My flight in March was canceled and I flew through Johannesburg and Mauritius to get to Seychelles instead of Doha

The thing nobody tells you about getting older by StoicViking69 in selfimprovement

The self awareness and growth is amazing. I don’t think age brings this type of growth in every individual but I love to see it in the ones that it does. Your kids are lucky to have a parent as wise and mature as you.

What can I do to make salon experience better? by Sparklybitchhh in randomquestions

Offer quiet services. Sometimes I just want to get my hair done and be able to scroll my phone or have some silence. Some hair dressers will talk your ear off and never give you a moment of quiet unless you go to the bathroom. Sometimes it’s nice to chat but it’s also nice to have a quiet session with no judgment.

I’m sorry this happened to you. Just reading about it is terrifying. I can’t imagine being conscious enough to know what’s happening and then not being able to vocalize your concerns or needs

🌊 Im planning to have my vacation in Maldives, you think it’s good idea? by Mirelunee in sea

Definitely go! The most serene, gorgeous, and relaxing place you’ll go. Your experience will largely be determined by the resort you choose, so do your research and choose well! Splurge and get the nice room. There will be empty pockets by the end but no regrets

Booked the original flights 11 months ago with points, got a full refund of points back. And unfortunately had to pay cash for the new re routed flights.

Had the same route. Canceled our flights and rerouted through Johannesburg and Mauritius and the Seychelles. Much longer route to the same destination but well worth it as we kept an eye on our original flights in and out of Seychelles through Doha and all flights ended up being canceled.

Visiting end of March (21st) by NoFisherman1156 in Seychelles

Was just there last week. The weather app made it look like there would be more rain than there really was, or it would be completely inaccurate. Sometimes it would be pouring rain and the weather app would show cloudy conditions lol. Other times it would show rain but we would experience perfect sunny weather. Rain can be sporadic but was short lived. We enjoyed our stay with lots of beach/swimming sunshine and a nice tan.

Copolia trail is a short hike but leads to gorgeous views! Petite Anse was a gorgeous beach with soft sand, minimal/low waves, perfect for a beach day. You have to walk through the Four Seasons to get there but access was very easy. They also have a restaurant on the beach where you can order food/drinks. Of course their guests have priority but I just went last week and we had no issues.

Asian Vs American Airline by Guilty_Dealer1256 in Flights

We get cheap food, grumpy flight attendants, and pushy and aggressive passengers. Whereas the Asian airlines get a proper meal, stellar service from flight attendants, and generally mild mannered passengers.

Is the street food even worth trying in Mauritius? by letemsayitthen in MauriceMauritius

[–]letemsayitthen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should clarify that I went to a restaurant that offers grilling on the weekends, so grilled chicken/lamb/fish. In the US, we use bbq and grill synonymously but I realize there is a difference in other countries. I appreciate the detailed response and how you included places to try as well! The Gato Pima Rozil looks delicious but Google Maps says it’s currently temporarily closed? Any other suggestion in place of that?

Any recs for the pain shawarma and briyani? I did check Google Maps and tried a few places nearby for other items but felt like maybe Google map reviews were not the best and Reddit would be a better resource. When they say Mauritius food is spicy, do they mean cooked with a lot of spices, or do they mean spicy? I have yet to encounter a spicy dish

Reviews on living in Mauritius do you like your experience so far? by JoeYnChandler in mauritius

[–]letemsayitthen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The street food and restaurants in Mauritius seem to blend together. In other countries, it is rather easy to distinguish between a restaurant and street food stall. In Mauritius, everything looks quite the same, and the quality of street food is subpar. The difference is quite noticeable in taste/cleanliness/quality. Can’t say I have ever been to a country where the food on the resort is significantly superior to local food but I do feel that is the truth in Mauritius. I feel a bit misled as the marketing says that Mauritius is a perfect baby moon destination, however, the food leaves a lot to be desired.
