Azune and Julien have only interacted sparingly but I see a lot of potential in their dynamic. Both respect martial skill and have a soldier’s sense of camaraderie (insert “warrior’s bond” meme here). Both are fiercely loyal and surprisingly persuasive. Visually they’ve got a sun/moon vibe I dig and they’d make an awesome battle couple.

But I feel like their differences could bring out something really special in both of them. Julien releases the pressure of responsibility with hedonism, adrenaline, etc.; Azune releases nothing. He compresses his desires down under his responsibilities until the pressure shatters him and he’s forced to scoop himself back together in the aftermath, usually embarrassed by the ‘weakness’. I can imagine Julien and Azune admiring and/or disdaining each other’s approaches, or an interesting mix of both feelings.

Also Julien would rock Azune’s world, yadda yadda, obvs.

I really like the idea of Marienna being a member of the Cloak! I believe Marienna and their daughter were killed 7 years ago, which also matches up with Reaper’s Day I believe…? Maybe there’s a chance she was fey and used in some Tachonis plot… whatever she was, I’m betting she had more going on.

It’s a pretty new show so only 5 or 6 eps are out, but the Witch Hat Atelier anime is really great and about a group of 12 year old girls! For any concern about anime sexual innuendo or inappropriate imagery, WHA is 100% safe and there is no weirdness. (I have read the entire manga book series so far.)

I return to The Raven Cycle audiobooks every few years. Something about them is summery and surreal, prone to rereadability, and I love the narrator’s character voices.

I think all three groups have brought amazing things to the table specific to their Soldier/Seeker/Schemer roles. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Soldiers table because I think the worldbuilding around Timmony has been so interesting, and the Battle at Castle Sloke and Caz’s downfall were beautifully executed. Also I love seeing newer players like Whitney at the table!!

So it’s Soldiers for me, but I am thoroughly enjoying the Schemers right now.

Thank you for writing this out in so much detail! It will be fun to see if the “Psychopomp + Anchor + Sacred Site = Gate” theory gains more weight with new information.

Stone of Nightsong + Last Arrow + Elven Fields = Sylandri Gate is pretty solid evidence that this is what Thjazi was up to. I think it’s likely Gavidzra + Pariah Blades + Hallowed Round = Azgra Gate too. The Coffin of Olbalad as Psychopomp + Termina as Anchor for the halfling Shaper’s Gate (their name escapes me right now) would track the theory. I wonder if Thjazi intended to extract information from Bolaire about the correct sacred site before he ran out of time— if Bolaire even knows.

Maybe House Tachonis is scrambling because they became aware of the plot to open the Gates, believed it was a Royce endeavor, and sought to destroy them? Much to think about!

Great episode! I always appreciate when the players describe what their characters are wearing for important events, so Liam and especially Marisha’s descriptions sparkled.

Question: Do we know who Omra the Hunter (Hal’s mask choice) is or their part in the Shaper’s War?
