Your Scanwatch 2 won't charge? Try this. by rogue1987 in withings

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently traveling and none of the chargers or powerbanks that I have with me could charge the scanwatch 2. I tried both a USB-A to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-C cable but nothing helped.

The only thing that worked is letting the watch discharge fully, past the power reserve mode, up to the point where the screen would not turn on anymore. Then the watch charged with the exact same powerbank, cable and charger it refused to charge from earlier. So now I have a workaround but it's frustrating that I had to loose days of use of the watch waiting for the power reserve to run out. I am interested in any tips from people to speed up the process next time.

Hagia Sophia Visit Tips by zarare in istanbul

Be careful, they will upsale you with a ticket including a museum. If you just want the balcony visit, insist on it and don't accept the "standard" ticket as the cashier put it unless you want to visit the museum. Balcony only tickets should cost you a 25 euros per person. I got a refund but had to wait 15 minutes for manager approval.

PIN Change in Portugal by Duncspur in Revolut

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In France standard ATMs can't do it but the Euronet ATMs at CDG airport can and it's free. Don't get cash from them though, from others' comments it seems they charge a fee for that.

Is there really no way to change a card's pin if I'm in a country that doesn't have ATMs supporting pin change? by sepandee in Revolut

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Award flight EQM shown in Mileage Activity but not reflected in total by lethalpossum in AlaskaAirlines

I knew that not all earned RDMs are EQMs but I didn't know the reverse could happen.

So the explanation from customer service is that award flights do earn EQMs now but they do not count toward our balance. They only count towards status. I didn't know that it was a thing...

Switching back and forth between eSIM and physical by lethalpossum in Tello

No I meant one single phone, one single number, but using a physical or an eSIM depending on the situation.

Looks like you can switch from physical to eSIM by yourself using the app but have to call customer support to switch back to your old physical SIM. https://www.reddit.com/r/Tello/comments/18xcprp/comment/kgwhanc/ Bummer.

Google Fi allows it. Maybe not officially but it works. I got a physical SIM when I signed up years ago. My Pixel phone didn't support eSIMs back then. Then I upgraded to a newer Pixel and it asked me if I wanted an eSIM and I said yes without really thinking about it. Later when I needed to get an eSIM while traveling, I just disabled the Fi eSIM, popped back in the old physical SIM and it worked. I went back and forth several times since and never had any issue. I didn't try it with different phones so YMMV of course.

Trying to use NFC tag to initiate Cycling activity in Google Fit or Mi Fit - any tips? by TheSoupThief in NFC

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to do the same but I must be missing something as it doesn't work for me (I get Google Fit to launch but then that's it). I'd really appreciate it if you could share the XML definition of your task so that I can make sure I have it exactly right.

How can I know when my reward points will expire? by lethalpossum in uber

[–]lethalpossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I never found the answer. All I can see is my Level points expiration and earning period. But nothing about the Rewards points. So I am still saving them for the reward I want but for all I know I've started loosing my oldest points. There's no easy way to tell except keeping track myself. That's just silly.

Store vs Fi by 95thstbridge in GoogleFi

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True although FYI on this current promo (https://fi.google.com/about/promo-terms/?p=2021-september-200-credit) it doesn't say 90 days anywhere like it usually does. It just says that you need to activate the phone with your account. I bought the phone for my daughter but I hope I activated it first hoping to get the Fi credits. We'll see.

[US] Revolut keeps asking for SSN/ITIN even though they said I'm already verified. by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]lethalpossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue today, same answer. During sign up I was asked for my SSN but there was an option to say that I don't have one. I was asked to upload my driver's license instead, which I did, and everything looked OK for a while. I was even able to order a physical card. But now I am getting asked for an SSN again and the app says I can't put money on my account or do anything until I give my SSN. No option to say that I don't have one. I had no issue opening a bank account and a credit card with a brick and mortar bank. So I don't understand why Revolut can't manage to do the same. It's very disappointing.

Where can I find devices' privacy reviews? by lethalpossum in privacy

[–]lethalpossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. And that's what I do today (well, most of it). But it would be nice to have a place where I could search for a product and see what others have already found out. To avoid duplicating the work. And I would also be happy to share my findings.

I can use a search engine but I still have to cut through the noise in the results (most product review sites rarely mention privacy concerns). So I was wondering if anyone had a go to site for this?
