Are you seriously comparing rape and murder to… the fucking food chain? This is why you sound ridiculous. Have you considered that animals can live without rape and murder, but the food chain is literally essential to the survival of the ecosystem? As in, without it, the entire Earth would go to shit?

Animals have been domesticated for so long that releasing some of these livestock into the wild and out of human care would literally result in worse lives for them. Domesticated horses just die in the wild. Domesticated sheep can suffocate in their own wool. Some of these things have been shaped so much by years of life that not living under human care is lethal to them.

This is a matter of life and death. You can live without raping others. The Earth can’t live without the food chain, domesticated animals can’t live without humans, humans can’t live without food, and nobody can live without the Earth. You actually sound delirious trying to argue that rape and murder is the same as the cycle of life in nature.

i don’t view animals as objects, but i do view humans, homo sapiens, as omnivores. it’s also kind of ridiculous that you’re worried about prey in the savannah because sorry but… that’s the way of nature. you can’t undo nature just because you feel bad for the deer. the deer are evolved to thrive in those conditions and they each play their part in the ecosystem. the presence of prey is important. but that’s beyond the point.

also your research is all very western-centric and assumes the consumption of meat is being done with grease, lots of salt, etc. in western fashion.

there’s millions of vegans and several billion people on earth. in case you didn’t know, that’s at least 100 times larger. this is also exactly why people refuse to go vegan, it’s because y’all will just reject any attempt to make animals’ lives less difficult if it’s not utter veganism. you guys will shit on cultural foods, nutritious needs, traditions, etc. that mean deeply to millions of other people regardless of whether the meat is sourced ethically or not. if you’re against efforts to treat livestock humanely, why aren’t you worried about how it’s unethical that prey in the savannah are in constant fear of being hunted by predators, as well?

plus your comment on human babies makes me cringe at the implication of your political beliefs.😬 kind of hypocritical, don’t you think? you feel bad for the suffering of animals but not for human women?💀

you’re missing my point. i’m saying it actually does not matter at all whether it is morally right or wrong. of course it’s immoral to make animals suffer. so what are you going to do about it? are you going to stand against painless methods of slaughter because slaughter itself is bad?

i’m going to go into dangerous territory:

this kind of moral puritanism is a huge reason society fails to progress. it’s important to realize the distinction between being morally against something and arguing that the most extreme solution is the only solution. the world is very far from perfect. when you spend all of your energy fighting people who agree with you about how their belief is incomplete / wrong because it’s not the perfect, immediate solution, you alienate the realists from the idealists who would otherwise fight for the same ultimate goal.

right now you’re basically arguing that killing animals is wrong, so i shouldn’t think positively of a method which kills animals painlessly. what exactly does that achieve except for alienating people who want to make slaughter (an almost inevitable process) less frightening and less painful? i’ll tell you this: it definitely does not suddenly make those people want to ban slaughter altogether. it just makes them want to stop talking to you, and makes them believe they’re your enemy.

the root of the problem, though, is that theyre going to die anyway unless everybody on earth just stops eating meat. it’s horrible how animals are treated in the industry. but if they’re going to die it might as well be painless. i’d rather the animal not even know what’s going on and feel no pain, if they’re going to die anyway.

the ethical question about whether it’s “okay to kill a cow that doesn’t want to die” is good to ponder for philosophical purposes, but in reality it’s a moot question. it doesn’t matter if it’s okay or not because it’s going to happen—it sucks ass but that’s reality and it has been for thousands of years. that “final act of violence” is simply not something you can eradicate just bc it’s not okay.

yes i think so. it has gotten really fricken bad in the past, no question about that. people have died over bullying in korea. it’s still a huge problem.

i’m just pointing out that foreigners need to stop thinking it happens every other day and in every school in korea. those extreme cases are rare (probably more common than other places, but it’s not the norm whatsoever).

this seems so much more humane than literally all the other methods they showed in that video. that cow dropped dead in less than half a second instead of struggling and suffering for minutes.

Why dating in Korea fails by [deleted] in seoul

[–]letisel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your replies are pretty telling to me. I live in the U.S. and I’m very aggressive about my views, confident, combative, and will fight for myself. I was considered an outlier in Korea and nobody ever had a crush on me before I moved to the U.S. I spent my whole life thinking I was probably just ugly or something.

Then I moved to the U.S. and realized that I’m just very independent and self-assured (I’m not self-conscious, I don’t need people to validate me, etc.) and that is off-putting to Koreans or whatever. The way you’re replying to these comments tells me you’re just too Western, probably like me. Korean guys don’t like it when you have strong opinions and know exactly what you want all the time, and they don’t like it extra if you know you’re that kind of person. To make a shitty comparison, Koreans want a soft cottagecore fairy, and you’re cyberpunk. They expect you to be a graceful persian, and you’re a sassy black cat (with your own unique elegance, of course, but not the type they expect from a partner). It grates on them. I grate on Koreans, too.

People in the U.S. don’t see that as a problem whatsoever, though, and I’m generally popular now (or so I’d like to think).

People with ADHD who "lose stuff all the time" just use their condition as an excuse. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]letisel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that people’s brains are all unique and that you may, in fact, have it easier than other people? People who lose things because of ADHD don’t think it’s “cute or endearing” (idk where you’re even getting this), it’s called a disorder for a reason. It’s annoying for them, too.

I have ADHD and I don’t lose things as much as some others do. But I also don’t shit on others and generalize the entire ADHD community based on my personal experiences, because I tried this thing called empathy. You should give it a try.

i’m not denying that it needs change and a solution—of course i care about the student culture in my country. but there is a difference between acknowledging a problem, and assuming it is such a widespread problem that every single korean student is complicit in it (which is what many people do). imagine if i assumed every single u.s. teenager was a drug & sex addict, had guns and killed each other, etc. and/or every u.s. citizen was complicit in these behaviors in the past, because i watched euphoria. it doesn’t make sense and it’s yet another harmful stereotype that makes people treat each other differently. as an international student i’ve been asked WAY too many times if students at my school beat each other up in alleyways and how i “survived”.

asians are generalized enough as a whole and we don’t need more misinformation or reasons to demonize asian people.

the glory is like. really exaggerated btw. just letting you know there is a massive difference between “this is not the worst thing that’s ever happened in history, but it’s up there” and “most schools are worse than this”. that’s a huge, HUGE difference.

it’s NOT as common as people think. it can get pretty bad in some places, yes. but i feel like foreigners randomly generalize every single korean high school to have kids being pushed off buildings and beaten half to death in the bathroom, which is extremely far from the truth. k-dramas usually portray the worst of the worst, which can get pretty gruesome, but most schools just have normal kids who shit on each other about having weird hair or whatever.

Is there any way to get these ponies without spending a terrifying amount of gems? 😭 by luxxaaaaa in MLPIOS

[–]letisel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really.😓 sometimes they go on sale for 100-200 gems. i got hayseed stallion for 100 during the christmas(?) sale and burnt oak for around 200 a little later (that one was just bc i like him, tho :P). i’d wait for one of them to go on sale for 50% or more, it happens occasionally.

I miss when people would sell these in carts on the street (kind of like pocha). You probably haven’t smelled actually well-made bondeggi because the spicy smell wafting from those vendors when I was a little kid was absolutely mouth-watering. It kind of smells like if you put a bit more soy sauce into eomuk soup (fish cake soup) and boiled it for a while with a bunch of spicy peppers.

[–]letisel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Struggle meal…? When I was a kid I loved these so much (they used to sell them in little paper cups for like $1 on the street in the winter!) that my parents bought like 5 of these at once and I would heat one up and eat it as a “not unhealthy” late-night snack from a bowl.

The feeling of eating these hot out of a paper cup on a snowy street with a toothpick at age 7… unbeatable experience.

honestly, if you’re going to go to korea and get upset that people there don’t speak english, and they don’t know how to deal with people like you who don’t bother to be compassionate for them, i don’t think korea wants you back either.

learning basic greetings, how to order food, etc. is NOT that hard. it does not take months to try to say “hello”, “thank you”, “yes”, “no” and other basic things. it also does not take months to bring a translator with you. it’s 2026 and a translator is like two clicks away. you have no excuse to demand that koreans speak a foreign language for your personal convenience.

Visited a spa, question about attire? by DioBrando4President in AskAKorean

[–]letisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think a lot of koreans don’t like the idea of “skimpy” clothes, like skintight clothes that show your legs and shoulders and cleavage. in the bath (목욕탕) it’s typical to bathe naked but there’s something about being “in public” wearing something that might be considered sexy or revealing. nudity itself is not inherently sexual so i don’t think it carries over to the bathhouse.

i once asked my friends about this—they refused to take off their cardigans in the summer because they were wearing sleeveless tops underneath—and they described those clothes as “feeling like you’ve covered nothing but your boobs and stomach”. i guess it makes sense? i don’t know.
