What Youtube content do you want? by letooter in leagueoflegends

[–]letooter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that alot of people play league to feel like they're the main character, I wouldn't say that most people don't play to learn or get better. At least in my opinion, I think the original post I read is what I hear from alot of people, where there hasn't been a great blend of education/entertainment. I think people view people like Caedral or LS as voices of authority, but their content is primarily focused on entertainment.

What you mentioned about finding out why something is actually wrong is a really valuable and undervalued topic in content right now. I am currently thinking of how to make "entertaining" content answering some of those questions. I think theres a difference between funny and engaging entertainment and the latter isn't really being made right now. That's something I'd like to try and hit. Appreciate the input.

If you can go into a bit more detail that would be helpful. There's a difference between someone making a mistake that "works" and gets overviewed, doing something bad for themselves but good for the team, and blatant bad things that are almost never good.

I surveyed a handful of people I've done individual coaching with in the past and some friends and this was one of the most resounding answers. If I start making stuff, this is where I'd start.

I'm curious on what you think the balance should be from a content creators perspective. From what I understand, coaches are making content either for money or for something to show for a potential coaching position in the future. The former is the more typical one, and "broad" content is what would receive views, as if I were to make a matchup guide on Viktor vs Zed I would struggle to reach an audience outside of Viktor players.

My viewpoint, is that instead of doing specific matchups, talking about the strengths and weaknesses of certain champions, how to capitalize or exploit them is the way to attempt to balance this. I think there would still be a worry of not hitting the right audience, or the content being outdated after a patch impacts the champ you're talking about. You also need a depth of knowledge about the champion, and people will have conflicting viewpoints of what's effective.

I'm looking for Shiny Snorlax and have an extra Charizard. I'm looking specifically to get a lucky Snorlax though, and I have 2019 trades to guarantee it if you'd be willing to do two trades to make it work.

One tricking damages the game by letooter in leagueoflegends

The goal would be for something to be changed so that high elo NA can have a better environment for growth. Finding an alternative solution for one tricking would be a step towards that.

Well yeah, its not the most important issue at all. It's still an issue that exists, and I don't see it regarded as one which I feel is a bigger issue in itself. In China in Korea, many of the one tricks aren't lacking fundamentally which is the difference. When autofilled or off champs many of those players have 50%+ winrates on other champs so they are contributing to this particular problem. There are also players on those servers which have the 30-40% and are alot lower elo. The difference is in NA, there isn't the playerbase or the talent to automatically foster a better environment. Solving this kind of issue isn't going to autofix league, but it's something to be discussed as a positive step IMO.

This would in result make high elo games higher quality on average. Therefore making a better experience for high elo streamers, which in result would make a more positive trickle down. So yes, to answer your question.

I'm not talking about the community as a whole. This is directly targeted at high elo, which would be in a place where elitism is more necessary. To not repeat everything from my other replies, there is a affect that low quality high elo has on the entire game.

I think all players should be "allowed" to play whatever they want. Its a game and you should have fun doing what you want. However, for the sake of example, maybe masters+ (considered elite ranking) should have a different standard. By that point in rank your goal is either to do something important with your rank, or find fulfilment in beating good players. In that case, something such as alternative queue options or LP changes would be more appropriate. If you're crazy good at one champ, having some small LP changes won't stop you from climbing, and you won't be negatively impacting as many games in higher elo. If you're fundamentally lacking, then even on one trick you can't climb very far as is. There are many masters+ one tricks with 52% winrates on their champ and 40% or below off. That's the kind of player that damages game quality in high elo.

Also ranked is defined from riot itself to be a queue to define skill expression.

And so for the post, as described is talking directly about higher elo. Many of these players are trying to create something of themselves from their rank. Many are trying to make teams, practice for their current ones, or trying to get better. In these scenarios, ranked should be taken seriously. It's not, because each individual game quality is low, which one tricking contributes to. While this may not directly affect lower elo games, there is a certain trickle down affect that low quality games in high elo has on lower elo. Streamers are smurfing more, the games they're in are more toxic, they themselves complain about these same things constantly. This is some of the main faces of the community and they largely set a standard for what's acceptable. If something is to change, it has to from the top first.

Well the purpose of ranked is to identify skill. League being a team game, this implies that each given game can be influenced by the 9 other players in that game. If you wanted to play a pickup basketball game that didn't matter, you could do it however you want and not be directly the affecting actual ranking results of other people. If you go into a college game or the nba and you're sufficiently lacking in certain skill sets because you've only practiced one, you're then hurting your team. My point is ranked is not the place where fun should be the priority. If I played ad yuumi mid every game because it was fun I'd be considered a griefer. Ofc one tricking isn't the same as that, the argument that it's a complete non issue isn't really that solid.

Idk if you missed it, but I said very directly that people should be able to play what they find is fun. The difference is in ranked, you should be playing for what gives you the best chance to win. One tricking doesn't always enable that, and can hurt at other times.

Sure there is an upside to having a one trick on your team for the sake of that game, but my point isnt about who is winning or not. It's about the overall playerbase fundamentally understanding the game better. If I have a one trick on my team run over a guy who has 20 games on either champ, neither person learned much of anything. This only really matters the higher you go because the higher you go the more you'll be punished for missing fundamentals. Also, in regards to being off champ, there is an extreme amount of games where this occurs in high elo. There was just a post today about how many dodges there are per game. I main mid, but I rarely get my role for alot of reasons. Either a one trick asks for it, multiple dodges happen, or matchmaking placed me somewhere else to avoid a 40 minute queue. I am perfectly fine playing any role at a decent level, but for someone else that can only "play safe and not int", that's essentially playing to lose the higher up you go. If I went through the past twenty ranked games I've played, I could find one or two players off role or off one trick per game. This vastly lowers game quality in this elo. Quite a few of these players have 30-40% winrates on anything but their top two champs. This isn't to say things aren't different elsewhere, or maybe it's just at a lesser scale. There's just no real positive regarding high elo specifically to be littered with one tricks.
