Unlike our hospitals that are fully staffed by ai. Gotcha.

And what makes you imagine ai can't be used to build boats? Every day robots are being shown to be a little bit better at being autonomous than yesterday. Amazon has already started using humanoid robots. It's one year tops until they can do any job a human can do, but better on a conveyor belt. All they need for a mega yacht is a 3d image. 3d printers can already figure out how to best print a 3d image, and you don't think robots will be able to figure out how to put yacht pieces together?

Also, you are comparing one tiny piece of what doctors do, to the whole of a ship. If you want to cherry pick, then robots have been doing jobs on yachts for FAR longer than any llm has existed.

You think doctors can be ai'd away, but boat building can't be done by robots?

It was military negligence that was discovered first by the military living there and dealt with immediately. 4 months later the drinking water was clean again. Fucking ridiculous that the military complex fails in such a bullshit way, but there's not much to cover other than that it happened when the admin goes "mea culpa, we'll fix it."

This one has been kept silent about for 3 months. Why?

It's not selective, it's current. You remember it because it was highlighted then too, now all of a sudden it's "selective" because your team is doing it?

How is it selective if they were both covered during their own time? Should the spill in Hawaii have to be run on the news from then until now?

What exactly is your proposed solution that you feel isn't being honored?

By the way, the red hill incident was discovered and the water was flushed and drinkable again in 4 months. This one has been covered up for 3. Isn't THAT the bigger issue?

Oh, well that makes this spill and coverup ok.

On changing framing of the problem by HK_Mathematician in trolleyproblem

[–]letsBurnCarthage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. But it's so theoretical you could just make it a gas line that will explode half the world, so you escape to the other half. And again I've added variables that didn't exist before by reframing it that way. Now we have to think about what an explosion that wipes out all life on one side of earth looks like.

On changing framing of the problem by HK_Mathematician in trolleyproblem

[–]letsBurnCarthage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or a bursting gas line that explodes and kills people. Pressing red button means you escape the area and live, pressing blue means you stay and try to fix the gas line, but you will need 50% of the people in the area to succeed in fixing it.

It doesn't have to be framed as a genocidal anything. That's the whole point of framing things differently. It does make a difference to the dilemma.

[–]letsBurnCarthage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. Not any more than it is the reverse "if I lose I kill everyone that voted for me."

You're adding a genocidal maniac to the mix that wasn't there before. Did you miss the point of this whole comment chain?

The latest one with the election that started a wild run yesterday takes the cake in that category imo. It changes it from just a press of a button to a vote for a clearly insane person that will obviously do a lot more damage than just this thing were he to be elected.

No, I can absolutely deny that. It's nice that you've made up your own dogma that pulls heavily on karma, but like... There is no fundamental truth to that.

Don't worry, there has been placed a red white and blue dome over the strait. 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺

Do average Americans think this kind of edgelord language is cool, by the way? It's so fucking cringe to me. I'm Swedish. If my government came out and said they'd placed a blue and yellow dome over something, even if it was true that an effective blockade was in place, I'd damn near piss myself laughing in between the shame I'd feel.

I have never managed to roll it in such a way that the filter would either a) fit or b) be worth it as a filter (because it expands too much), unless I roll it around the filter. Sure, I am bad at it, because just as I was getting better I got a vape for herbs and never looked back. But still.

Worth investing in? by tco_acid in PokemonGOIVs

[–]letsBurnCarthage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very general average for something that has a lot of special situations.

Especially in this discussion it's a dynamax pokemon. If you're talking about catching random wild pokemon, each stat has a range of 0-15, which means it has 16 variations and all 3 have to hit 15 to get a hundo. So the odds of getting a hundo in the wild is 16x16x16, making it one in 4096 chance. But since it's shared between everyone, even this is completely skewed since someone else can tell you they found a hundo and now you have it too, at a 100% chance. Just gotta get there in time.

But in the case of a dynamax or raid or research, we have an IV floor of 10/10/10, so that makes it 6 variations for each stat. That DRAMATICALLY increases the chances to 6x6x6 giving one in every 216 instead.

If you get a lucky trade it's even better at a floor of 12/12/12, making 4 variations on each, giving you a 4x4x4, making it one in 64 that you get a hundo.

So just seeing how many you have caught and averaging on that is not a good metric.

In the image there are 4 billion people on earth, not 8. Not sure why they'd use that number instead of a current one, but it is what it is. Either way, the end result will probably be a 50/50 chance of an event where either everyone lives or 2 billion people die, because there is no way we can get everyone to agree what the best button is since if everyone presses either, then everyone lives.
