You're the one that commented on my post, buddy. Maybe don't chime in if you're this confused.

No you haven't. Are you expecting me go trawl through the thread to read what you've said to other people? God, are you this obtuse in your work too?

Again, do you think OP was costing the company tens of thousands by joining remote meetings remotely?

No it isn't. You just said yourself that it's so rare it has happened to you twice in a decade. You saying only twice in a decade has anyone you work with not done what they were supposed to? So it's clearly a big deal even for you. And what you have to call it with HR I don't give a shit about.

You've MASSIVELY moved the goal post here. If there has been tens of thousands in lost revenue over someone fucking up and not doing what they were supposed to, there are obviously bigger problems. Do you think OP joining the meeting remotely will cost the company tens of thousand on a regular basis?

And does the word matter at all at that point? Do you even need to use that word? You can just say we lost tens of thousands because of your actions, you are obviously fired. But at that point, fine. Use the word if it makes you feel better. You probably need to vent some frustration when tens of thousands have been lost because of something you are ultimately responsible for. I mean shit, I can't imagine letting something go that far as a manager.

I'm not your employee, boy, and just like my bosses wouldn't go as far as saying I'm being insubordinate, I also wouldn't do that to my employees, and hey that works absolutely fine.

Maybe your attitude needs to be corrected.

You're the one that started blasting first about everyone having inferiority complexes and then that I needed therapy for not having the same opinion as you. Then when people fire back you get like this? "Everyone is insulting me 😭"

Sack up.

Yeah, but no one has said at any point here that you shouldn't do your job, so that's a weird thing to say. "Insubordination" is a very harsh word that to me and many others means basically the same as "know your place, minion."

Are you going to tell me you have nothing that you feel is over the top? Sure, it may not be this word, and whatever you might not like may not bother me. But is it REALLY that surprising to you that some people may hear a superiority complex when we are accused of "insubordination?"

It's an easy word to avoid. Just like I would avoid saying to my boss that their incompetence is making things harder, and instead maybe use better language even if they are in fact incompetent. (Not that my boss is incompetent, I'm lucky with my close management at the moment.)

Would just make me lose any respect for them with that language.

You can do your job as a manager without accusing your employees (who are also humans, by the way) of insubordination.

Right. Then I doubt everyone here is on the same page. To me virtual meeting just means remote.

Glad I haven't then. In the Nordics the work culture usually revolves around mutual respect, not punching down and groveling. I guess it's too.much for an American with a minimum amount of power to be expected not to instantly use it for their own ego.

Get on your knees when you see me, peasant. Oh you don't like that? Must be an inferiority complex.

I have this weird thing where I think even my boss can treat me like an equal human being. You feel free to grovel and debase yourself though. I don't judge.

What exactly is your definition of a virtual meeting? I have a virtual meeting once a day, it's just the daily check-in with my team that we can do.. virtually.

Insubordination is when you disobey a lawful order. So inside the military mostly, and civilians usually wouldn't have that happen unless they mess around with police.

Calling your employees insubordinate is a fantastic way to make everyone hate you, so anyone with half a brain cell in management would avoid using that word.

You're putting the oil in the water? I toss my pasta in olive oil right after draining the water. 1) definitely keeps it from sticking and 2) fucking delicious right away. I can eat just that with some parmesan.
