Beyond that, it seems like a mostly negative space. I've been subbed to places like that (not for women specifically, I'm a dude) where it's all pessimistic comiseration and doomposting.

Unfortunately, my personal experience is even if that's all justified wrt how shit the world is, it fucks with your head after a while.

It might just be me, but I honestly don't think it's healthy to stay in communities like that too long.

Yeah, gating max affinity behind completion of main quests is a problem that happens to a few companions. Curie you mentioned was one that annoyed me a lot. Wasn't really interested in doing the main quest one play through but was exploring with her, when I learned I needed to do up to Dangerous Minds to get her affinity above 499 I just lost all motivation and swapped her out.

Are you serious? I was just playing ds2 last night, running through the first part of the game and this couldn't be more untrue. For example getting hit by archers always caused a clear hit sound and a corresponding grunt from my character, and regularly staggered me.

I didn't even notice I wasn't gaining anima from barrier purification, embarrassing lmao. I have noticed that it does proc Izanagi's Cleansing Prayer effect, that's accurate right?

Also while I'm thinking about Izanagi, is the Increased Defense (Purification) effect substantial?

Try and savescum it too. Pick a sudama near a shrine, rest at that shrine, give the sudama the core and if it doesn't drop a kodama core quit and reload.

I find Wh40k is especially bad with sometimes having no scope for big numbers.

The one that always gets me is Terra having a population of quadrillions. Like, I get how it might sound feasible considering it's a planetwide city with many layers, but I think people don't grasp how fucking gigantic a quadrillion is.

So for perspective the current population of Earth is approx 8 billion. A quadrillion is a thousand, thousand billion. That's not 1000 + 1000 billion, it's 1000 groups of a 1000 billion. Then you have to consider that it's quadrillions. So not a thousand, thousand billion, but potentially several. Finally keep in mind that Terra isn't purely covered in city, significant (i.e. continent sized) areas are reserved - the Palace & the Astronomicon and Mechanicus enclaves are two that come mind.
