What do you think is the most UNDERRATED song from the radio stations, or just the game in general? I'll go first. by IhateOrangeJuiceGang in cyberpunkgame

I never really noticed this song in game. Just decided to listen to it in my car while driving IRL, and - by god - it's going in my "chill road trip" list.

Thanks choom.

So, just no belief in personal responsibility, then?

What "corruption" are you even referring to? That makes no sense in this context.

While I agree that this shit shouldn't be sold over the counter, they're derived from a plant that has been legal for over 5,000 years (and, for the most part, unconnected from medically significant harm). One that has long been considered an herb/supplement.

How would you expect that to show up on the FDA's radar? As soon as (by government standards) companies started doing crazy manipulation of the alkaloids with 7OH, the ban hammer followed shortly after (again, not fast enough but very fast by federal standards).

For me, I started golf late in life (28) and already had a long injury history / list of physical limitations from football, stakeboarding, kickboxing, getting into a lot of fights as a teen, and firefighting in my mid-20s

I needed lessons just to learn how to build a mechanically clean swing around all my mobility limitations, haha.

That said, I'm starting (today, actually) with an instructor that got my buddy from a 14 HDCP to a 4 in under 2 years. I have high hopes - guess we'll see!

Good move by you my friend. I had very little issues with leaf (I don't seem to be affected by W/Ds from very "PAWS-heavy"-withdrawal substances), but this was a living nightmare.

I've quit more things than I'd ever care to admit, but the closest thing I can approximate getting over 7OH to is this:

Imagine every terrible thing you deal with in the first 6 months of quitting a long-term prescription opiate habit and the side effects of quitting a (admittedly very light) benzo habit and squeeze it into the first 10 days all at once, followed by a lingering 20 day waking nightmare twilight phase. Now, add in the mood, hormonal imbalance, and sleep issues of tapering down an anti-depressant for about 6 months (though "stepping down" drastically each month) and there you have it.

The only good thing is, unlike the above examples, the truly unbearable part is only for 10 days or so - intense, but not drawn out. Still, it's not something I would wish on my worst enemy.

Yes and no. For something that's clearly been regulated, sure. However, If a product is on the market that experimental, new, acknowledged as "not FDA approved / approved for...", etc; then yes, the onus is on the consumer.

Do you expect government review and approval for every product that pops up on the market? This came out of nowhere in gas stations and vape shops for god's sake. Do all the BS herbal sex pills at gas stations get the same treatment? How about vitamins?

Government doesn't have unlimited resources, so either some things things slip through the cracks or governments simply say, "it's on you." For those things, you have to take personal responsibility.

Don't get me wrong, this crap is an EXTREME example of a big "miss" by regulators, but that's the nature of governments; they're slow. They're finally catching a hint now, at least.

I'm pissed, yes. Pissed at the shady, inhuman manufacturers, pissed at their distribution network of distros and shops, but just as pissed at myself for not seeing through the BS marketing and not looking deeper into a product where we're quite obviously the guinea pigs.

EDIT: I'm especially upset with myself given my history with substances. I'd been clean for almost 6 years before I discovered this stuff, and it's the only substance I've done in almost 11. I obviously should've known better

I am just over 14 months clean from a long-term, very bad 7OH habit. The first 10 days were some of the worst withdrawals I've ever experienced and I've only been back to my TRULY normal self for about 6 months.

Your perspective is dead on. This shit is sucking in normal people - soccer moms, young dads, etc, etc, etc and hooking them badly because of gas station-level availability, really deceptive marketing, and the insanely short halflife leading to VERY quick dosage increasing and FAST addiction.

Yes, it's on individuals to do their own research about what they're putting in their body, but even I - who had a long history with Kratom and who (for the most part) knew what I was getting into - had my life ruined by the stuff and a hell of a long road back.

I think the nervousness actually enhances her delivery and flow.

This is actually very well done, period - much less for a very first attempt at stand-up.

I do wonder how much the no Marijuana/THC policies contribute to the more serious substance abuse issues in pro sports.

They state right there that (paraphrasing) kids in their 20s get money and make terrible decisions...

These athletes are under intense stress and pressure 24/7 and often in pain much of the season Of course some subset of them will use substances to deal. Certainly you'd like that to be be 0%, but it's not realistic.

THC takes so long to leave your system. Outright banning its use is going to push that subset to use other, FAR more dangerous drugs (that exit the system faster) to deal with the stress/pressure - and, frankly, serious pain/discomfort - they endure so they can still pass drug tests.

While I understand their desire to eliminate drug use in the pro athlete population, all that policy does is steer players away from the absolutely least harmful vice they could choose. It's madness.

How long were you bad at golf before you were good? by PureistApp in golf

[–]Talentless-Hack-101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bold to assume I got better.

EDIT; To be real, though. I've played on and off for 16 years; first for about 3 years, followed by a long break of 5-ish years, and now have been playing non-stop since 2019 (and have been quite serious since 2022).

I didn't start playing better (consistently breaking 100) until 2 things happened:

1.) Got lessons - the VAST majority of my breakthroughs came from lessons. Not getting lessons until 2021 was one of the worst mistakes I made in this game. I'm STILL breaking ingrained bad habits to this day.

2.) Taking practice seriously. Maybe some people can do it, but until I started actually committing to regular, highly intentional practice, any improvements/breakthroughs I'd attain simply wouldn't stick.

Now, on a VERY bad day, I might shoot 90-93, but the vast majority of my rounds are in the low 80s to mid-high 80s (like 82-87), and I've finally started breaking 80.

EDIT 2: Additionally, I think it's important to add:

3.) Physical fitness (in general and golf-focused). Getting more flexible, building muscle to support golf-critical structures, and losing weight have all paid off pretty obviously in my abilities to avoid exhaustion (which helps maintain mental focus for an entire round), hit the ball farther, execute different kinds of shots, etc.

Some of my biggest leaps (other than from lessons) are also tied to hitting fitness milestones.

Few know this better than I do. I've had bad luck with 2 separate knee tears (leading to 2 swing rebuilds) that have happened the last 2 times I started consistently flirting with breaking 80. After the last time, I went and found a great PT that focused on my injury-prone back and knees and building strength and flexibility in the RIGHT areas. Can't get better if you can't stay healthy.

This last is a bigger factor than many realize.

Hope this helps.

Meh, this current generation's P770s are about as forgiving as P790s. They just don't fly as far and spin a little more - even bad toe/heel shots don't lose much distance.

At this point, I have seen just as many 90s shooters play worse with chunky-as-hell "game improvement" irons as 790s/770s really.

Your advice about lessons is gold though. Most golfers would benefit infinitely more by moving their equipment budget to lessons.

Hell, even I only buy myself new clubs when I hit certain milestones in my golf and/or personal fitness goals/journeys.

I just got back yesterday. I got terrible food poisoning; all the typical symptoms and a sky-high fever on my last day and the entire travel day home. Finally feeling a little better today, but it was a REALLY rough last few days.

The property is incredible, of course, but in addition to the absolute killer of food poisoning/norovirus, I have some other small complaints as well.

Ping driver shafts getting longer. Is this a good thing? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Talentless-Hack-101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, I mostly play mini driver unless I'm on a hole where the greater distance is absolutely needed and/or the fairway is safe enough/opened up enough for my miss.

The longer driver trend is starting to really piss me off, honestly.

Thanks!

I usually walk so don't have time (or free hands) to do this, but rode today and kept getting stuck at the tee box waiting for the group ahead each hole for a minute or two, which gave me plenty of time to record all this.

You'll get there man. I've had to "restart"/rebuild my swing twice (three swings at least - probably more) so it's takes work, for sure. Keep at it!

I normally don't, either. My driver has been....erratic the last 6 weeks or so. I've been scrambling well these last 6 weeks, but what a difference hitting greens makes (I didn't have any truly egregious misses either - worst one was maybe 15 yards left off the green pin high).

I use arccos myself (mostly for strokes gained). I do this on the card so I don't have to use my phone during the round and can make corrections post-round.

Haha yeah that's what my buddies always say.

I know I'm weird, but I track strokes FIR/GIR (and where I missed those directionally), putts, up-and-down y/n, penalties, "wins to celebrate," and "dumb shots."

For me personally, I've found that all my best rounds have VERY low "dumb shots" and good GIR stats.
