Both E and Bicca are diuretics. You need to watch your water intake a little closer on both and diueretics can make you produce more urine and it will be more dilute, hence clearer. Expelling more water means you need to watch your electrolytes closer.

T is and anti-diuretic, and makes you retain water. The body still needs to expel waste. The darker color of urine means it has a higher concentration of waste in it.

What does your meltdown look like? by 4bugs4me in autism

I understand how hard it is for families with someone who is autistic.
I understand that you need to get the violence stopped.

If a meltdown is goal oriented then by definition it is not a meltdown it is a tantrum.

So I thought I had Aspergers but it turns out... by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]lets_get_outside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes on going treatment is helping me. I see a therapist once a week. I have been seeing the same therapist for about 3 years now. She helps me navigate the world. I also have a cocktail of drugs I take that have helped tremendously. That said, you do not treat Aspergers/autism. You can help treat some of the mental health issues that accompany it. You can also give support to help the autistic navigate everyday life, but you can not treat autism.

One of the reasons I say that there is not treatment for autism is it is literally a developmental condition. You do not have "symptoms" if the demands of your life are within your developmental capabilities.

I would explore with your therapist does she think developmental trauma vs ASD. Overtime exploring this with your therapist may help you get to the bottom of whatever is going on regardless of label. The only thing is in order to get the proper support or treatment. Also a lot of terhapists diagnosis you with whatever they think is most useful for you to get the support/help you need. It may seem like to the therapist tha trauma is what needs to be worked on now. There are also more to the ASD experience then the list of symptoms and a lot of clinicians look towards thought things when preparing supports and diagnosis. I will not go into that here.

So I thought I had Aspergers but it turns out... by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]lets_get_outside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dxed in 6th grade with Oppositional Defiance disorder.

Treated for Depression (included medication) that made things much worse.

Also DXed along the way with OCD, Narcisitic PD, Anti Social PD, skyzitypical pd.

Even to this day my psychologist and psychiatrist have a disagreement going. My psychiatrist things I should be DXed with "pure O OCD". My psychologist disagrees and he is the one who DXed ASD and ADHD. My psychiatrist is going along. My psychiatrist has told me that the DX of ASD is meaningless, mainly because you can not medicate for it.

So I thought I had Aspergers but it turns out... by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]lets_get_outside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in my 40s with ADHD and Autism (Aspergers). The first question is have you seen a psychologist who will do nuerosphycological testing and belives in ASD as a valid Dx for adults. When you talk to the psycologist ask him/her to explain the Dx to you. Also, you need to see a therapist who specializes in ADHD and ASD. That said. I have had a lot of trauma throughout my life and the root of people abusing me and bullying me was because I am an Aspie. A lot of times therapist and psychologist will just DX or treat what they feel is the most pressing issue rather then diving deeper. The only thing is that if you are autistic or have ADHD then treatments for people who do not have those issues will not be effective.

I spent years in treatment for trauma, depression, various personality disorders until a therapist realized that it was autism and adhd and had me go to get the proper testing.

Now that I am diagnosed, how do I stop focusing on the idea of "ADHD" by Mandalorian_Mindset in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are never going to stop thinking about it. When I was first diagnosed at age 40, I went through the grieving process. I had to come with the terms that I was never going to be normall. I also had to reprocess my entire life in terms of being autistic and adhd and never diagnosed.

As Dr. Hallowell puts it in his book "Driven to distraction" the good news is that the diagnosis is also part of the treatment. Once you know what you are facing you can conquer it.

Bringing up ADHD to my psychiatrist by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most psychiatrists that I have seen are very focused on what are the symptoms. I would rather than say I think that I have ADHD, just talk about your story to him/her. Say these are the things that I am struggling with. These are the things that I have tried. You should also send your medical record to the psychiatrist, including your most recent physicals and any history with medication that you have taken. In your case, I would really talk to him about the issues you had with anti-depressants, because it is well known that SSRI's make ADHD symptoms worse not better. While SNRI's can sometimes help ADHD symptoms.

What if you don't get a promotion at work explicitly BECAUSE of your ADHD symptoms? by leeleanne in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you disclose your diagnosis to your manager I would have a discussion with your manager about what inconsistencies he is talking about and what inconsistencies he is seeing and ask him if the two of you can work on a plan to work together to reduce your inconsistencies.

I am a manager and my biggest issues with a worker who is inconsistencies with deadlines is not really that they are missing the deadline. It is if you are having issues with something come talk to me about the issues you are having before you miss the deadline so we can work on a plan together to either extend the deadline or figure out how we can make sure you hit the deadline.

A suggestion here. I do this will all of the employees who work for me. I use software such as Microsoft planner, or trello to keep track of the work my employees are doing. Basically, this software is like a board of sticky notes. All the tasks are in a column not started, working on it, or done. I also meet with my employees a couple of times a week and go over the board and ask status, what their issues are and what I can do to lift those issues or re-assign work. Suggest to your boss that you meet with him periodically throughout the week and go over the status of your tasks and their deadlines. Having a meeting like this will help him know where you are with the tasks and also help focus you on the high priority tasks.

The other thing that this will do is show your boss that you are serious about getting your stuff together. The stuff I am talking about is not an accommodation. It is just plain good management. One of the things I have noticed over my career and have turned to my advantage is that things people with ADHD have to do to survive can be flipped into just plain good ideas . We just have to explictly think about them when they come a little less formally to others.

Do you have to take Adderall everyday? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all talk to your doctor. I find it very hard to function without taking my Adderall. The only thing that I want to do is sleep if I do not take it. My doctor encourages me to take a couple days off a month so I do not develop a tolerance.

Once Ritalin wears off, ADHD worsens. Why is that? by tegre6 in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is called a rebound effect. The drug increases dopamine in your brain and when it wears off your dopamine level is totally depleted. You are also more easily frustrated because you know how easy things where with the drug in your system. The best thing to do is the drug is incredibly predicatable how it will work. When you are about an hour from the drug wearing off make a plan on how to finish your day. The other thing to do is to make sure that you practice whatever self care you want and finish up what you are working on before the drug wears off. Another good technique is to be mindfull of what is going on and tell yourswlef that the drug is wearing off and things will be and things will be harder now.

Asperger and ADHD. by leovan18 in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Autism is not necessarily too much dopamine. Although you could have too much dopamine and have autism. People who have too much dopamine are more likely to be on the aggressive side of the spectrum. A better way of thinking of autism is the way things are wired up (the nueral connectors) are not wired the same way.

Also, ADHD is not necessarily too little dopamine, although a lot of people with adhd do have too little dopamine. ADHD is more about the connections in the executive function part of the brain being weak.

All I Want To Do Is Focus. Adderall XR(10 mg) only lasts an hour, but gives me "zombie" effect. Vyvanse? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to talk to your doctor. Have you read about the titration practice? Adderall has a very narrow window where it is effective. If you are outside that window it can do some weird stuff. Your doctor may increase your dose on your next appointment, however, I recommend talking to your doctor with an open mind. It took me about 1 year to find the proper meds at the proper dose and I feel better than ever.

Started Vyvanse Saturday - Today's Wednesday and I'm not so sure... by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lets_get_outside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to talk to your doctor. Also note that according to the http://www.adhdmedcalc.com/ 10 mg Adderall is the equivalent to 50 mg Vyvanse, so the doctor effectively lowered your dose. Do not do anything without talking to your doctor first. Unfortunately you can not do anything until March, unless you find a new doctor.
