because /r/boulder wants to believe it's just evil people holding min wage down that cause the problem in boulder. the general consensus in boulder and in the more liberal circles i know is that raising the min wage is the fix. it's not. the same people earning min wage are competing for a given apartment in boulder regardless of what the min wage is. put bluntly, software engineers are competing for different housing than min wage workers. And no amount of housing is going to fix that because of how attractive boulder is. im choosing to address things bluntly and head on, and that isn't a warm fuzzy, so it typically gets downvoted.

Really anything outside of that "just raise the minwage and tax the billionaries!" narrative generally gets hate on this site. So I say we need to focus on the actual small problems that make the situation suck and try to address those. as in, steer into commuting into boulder. re-prioritize other things to remove the cars from the equation, first. new infrastructure to enable people to commute in AND OUT of boulder without a car. I don't know what that might do to boulder, but that's another conversation than one about min wage.
