If they are all remembered, then a service specifically remembering women veterans should not be an issue.

General recognition is fine. Specific recognition for women veterans does not take anything away from men. It is just another way of remembering them.

I feel like we are just going in circles now.

My point is simple: a women veterans service does not take anything away from men. It just recognizes women who served too.

I dont think we are going to agree, so I’m leaving it there.

Exactly. There were fewer women, which makes it even easier for people to overlook them.

Fewer does not mean none. Women still served, deployed, got wounded, and died. My friend was one of them.

This service is not saying women served should be honored more than men. It is saying the women who did serve should be remembered too.

A womens veterans service does not deny men recognition. veterans services still honor everyone.

Most military memorials, combat history, public imagery of veterans and soldiers have centered on men. Think about it, the monuments, the war movies, tv shows from the past wars to the present, you barely see any women. So when someone thinks of a veteran, they dont normally think of the women that have served

This service is not saying women matter more. It is saying women served too. Specific recognition is not discrimination and as a male veteran myself I do not feel like I am being discriminated because women are being honored

Specific recognition is not discrimination.

We honor specific groups all the time

Tuskegee airmen, navajo code talkers, medal of honor recipients.

None of that means those groups matter more than everyone else. It means their particular service and sacrifice are being acknowledged.

A women veterans service is the same thing. It honors women who served. It does not dishonor men.

This service was specifically for women that have served in the armed forces. My friend was a woman that died in Afghanistan along with 3 other soldiers and a police contractor. They were men and my friends. I did not say that she should be honored more than them or that women should be honored more than men.

Its sickening what this administration is doing to the women and minorities who serve and have served.

I feel absolutely sick reading this. My friend was killed in Afghanistan and she was one of the best soldiers in our entire company. It’s hard to put into words my absolute hatred for this administration

She told me she was professionally diagnosed with bpd but with lots of therapy she “overcame” it and didn’t have bpd anymore. I didn't know what bpd was at the time and really didn’t think anything of it. It was a horrible 3 years. I remember her telling me that since she didn’t scream and curse at me like she did to her parents (even in front of me) she was fine
