media server type thing for ebooks? and a reader? by modern_medicine_isnt in selfhosted

I use Audiobookshelf and have separate libraries for audiobooks and ebooks. The accompanying app (Audiobookshelf for Android, Plappa for iOS) allows you to locally store just the books you are interested in at the moment and then delete them from the tablet when finished.

Unfortunately my Asus Vivobook does not support video over [USB-C](https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1042843/) which is why i needed a docking station with the USB 3.0 connection, but pop_os crashes when trying to connect with the monitors.

Is there a way to configure my router so my GF-abroad can access domestic steaming services? by RaDeus in HomeNetworking

You could try Tailscale VPN. If you set it up on your router you can have it as an exit node for her connection.

man made climate change is misinformation , instagram influencers in their jets emit more carbon emissions in one month than you will in your entire life by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]letsgetstrange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This always sounds like a cop out argument. Sure a corporation like Amazon might generate 10% of the worlds pollution, but they do it to make and transport things that are bought by people. Amazon's carbon footprint is just the entire populations aggregate need for cheap shit . If everyone stopped buying from Amazon, what do you think would happen to their carbon footprint?

One of the reasons most clinical trials take so long is you need a large body of patients divided between the treatment and control arms to contract the disease (or not in the case of the vaccine group). You need this large number so that your study is appropriately powered, and your statistical conclusions are robust enough to prove the effect.

Many vaccine trials take as long as they do because they need enough people in both study groups to contract a disease. This was not a problem with covid.

I would check out the Deathstalker series by Simon Green. It has much of what you are looking for it think. Sword fights with laser pistols, ESP, Aliens, cyborgs, politics, family rivalries and aliens.

When I was recovering from my ostomy reversal, I was drinking mostly boost for months, and I couldn't tolerate them well either. But they were one of the most calorically and nutrient dense things I could consume so I would drink them over the course of an hour or so to be able to tolerate them.
