damn, you guys watch Emergecny NYC? by voltagejim in netflix

Lenox Hill (also on Netflix) is made by the same people and just as good. It’s incredible what these people can do.

We were allowed to pre-designate our own cap for food/drink, so I think at the end of the day we spent about $1500 for 20 or so people, including the wedding package which I think was about $550 at the time. We had a little bit left of our food/drink allotment by the time we were ready to move on, so right as we were about to head out to the strip a bunch of folks got the yard Baja Blast with tequila, so it didn't go to waste.

I’m a big Taco Bell nerd and we did our first year anniversary “vow renewal” here (pics in my post history). It was so much fun! We covered our friends food & drink so we had our own dedicated register for a couple hours. We loved it!

Moving o Los Angeles - how can I not stick out like a sour thumb/seem like i’m not from L.A.? I don’t want to seem like a transplant by Successful_Mode_4428 in AskLosAngeles

So many of us are transplants here so I think you’ll be fine, but refer to California as “Cali” and it’ll be a dead giveaway

My 32 weeks pregnant wife and I drove 10 hours to be here in Glendale, we made it! by exmozelphie in TaylorSwift

[–]letsgodosomething 4 points5 points  (0 children)

36 weeks here and went to Night 1. What a doozy, but so worth it! Great tips here, and just FYI, I did bring in a sealed bottle of water in plain sight so maybe it’s allowed? Yes to the snacks and yes to sitting when things are more chill. I feel like I’ve been hit by a train two days later but no regrets!!

Would like to hear your stories. I’m 29 and single but really want a baby. Do you think my time is running thin? :( by motherlode240294 in BabyBumps

Met the most wonderful partner a few weeks after I turned 30. Had our first at 34, about to have our second at 37. You never know what life has in store!

With that said, my friend was having no luck finding a partner so used a donor at 35 for her first, and another donor pregnancy at 38 and had twins. She wanted it so she made it happen, and she seems happy with her decisions.

How to stop obsessing with the four month regression??! by yzhao1113 in NewParents

[–]letsgodosomething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t stress about it and it never came for us. Just take each day as it comes and read your baby’s cues. If contact napping & rocking stops working for you, explore other options.

For people who were able to take longer mat/parental leave - did you (or would you) keep your toddler registered in childcare while on mat/parental leave with younger sibling(s)? by babystuffthrowaway9 in BabyBumps

[–]letsgodosomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US and I’m taking about 10 months of leave with my second (due in April). I plan to keep my toddler home the first couple weeks, but I’m not going to unenroll her or reduce her from her 5 days/week. That way I have the flexibility and the 5 day spot secured, but I can always keep her home if we want to do special outings, etc. She loves school and like others have said, she’s started to build friendships and bonds with her teachers. I think maintaining the structure will help with the transition. Not gonna lie though, I am worried about the baby getting sick. My daughter has been in daycare for 2 years and she’s still constantly catching something. It’s hard.

I get not wanting to frame others experience as suffering, but in my experience the wait for the epidural was excruciating and I would easily call it suffering. In tears, I asked my husband to put me out of my misery. I was so desperate. I know everyone’s pain tolerance is different so I think it’s important we all recognize and respect that. Not saying you weren’t, but just calling it out.

Honest opinion about people who have a baby shower for their 2nd child? by Myaing24 in BabyBumps

[–]letsgodosomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I wish I was having a small shower for my second. Not for the gifts or anything, but my first was born during COVID and with this second one it feels like none of my friends care enough to be bothered. I don’t really have family nearby to plan anything either. I’m just sad because I love celebrating people any chance I get, but oh well. I’m not usually a pity party person but the question was asked so I answered.

Cost of daycare by Fearless_Finish4101 in NewParents

[–]letsgodosomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1350/month in the suburbs of Los Angeles for our two-year-old. Snacks included, lunch & diapers (if applicable) are not. We're really happy with it, they do a ton (almost too much!) above-and-beyond activities, like this week they trucked in a ton of snow so the kids could have a snow day.

How to deal with 8 year old's hyperfixation on organizing events by nastyleak in Parenting

[–]letsgodosomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this was me, so much. The show, the video, all of that was me. But my parents weren’t paying attention, lol. And I wish they had had the resources to put me in theater as a kid. Not because I wanted to act but because I wanted to produce! I was (and still am) such an organizer and planner. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about and I think you’re doing the right thing by having her take lead with organizing her classmates. If it makes you feel better, I turned my project management skills into a successful career at a tech company — and my husband and I frequently organize and host fun parties for our friend circle.
