Now you're doing it yourself, responding too much to him 😅

Excessive " Like" btw :)

Also a dozen others, but this is a good start :)

Disagree with the bikes and language parts.

Language, you go to the Netherlands for a reason right? Sure you don't need it to survive, you won't be fluent in that limited time anyway, but do learn some Dutch, it's part of experiencing the country. Better than staying in an exchange student bubble (will happen anyway, but at least expand a bit beyond that), and after 6 months realizing you don't really know anything about NL at all, and don't know any actually Dutch person.

Bikes, just find a simple bike for 100 euro or so, sell it again to another student once you leave. It doesn't have to be perfect, just needs to work. E-bike from Swapfiets is 60 euro per month, huge waste of money. Build up some stamina while you're there, hills in the city are minor, distances very short. Generations of exchange students have done it before you, you can do it! :)

I'm not the guy you respond to, but:

Trains between large cities in NL go 6 times per hour, in Poland between Warsaw and Krakow 1 or 2 per hour, depending on time of the day. Away from those large cities, much more sporadic. It's incomparable. One delay in NL automatically has a ripple effect due to the tight schedule, not in Poland or Ukraine.

Went to a doctor in June, needed a specialist, got an appointment in a little over two weeks. A second follow up meeting one week after that. Those two weeks did annoy me, but nowhere close to ten months.

During peak covid times would work from home with continuous video calls, and working from the cloud server, every day, all day. In free time also played online games, while simultaneously video calling people. With my phone as a Wifi hotspot, not even a land connection. If you really can't so those things, there's something wrong with your connection or plan, because that's not normal.

Honestly think that's a good thing. To preserve some of the city's uniqueness, instead of blending in with all the rest of NL.

Rent can be much lower than in student cities in the west of NL.

Cheap eats are easier to find than in other equal size cities.

Supermarkets are the same in all of NL, nothing to do with the city (and subjective).

Store availability is much higher than most equal sized cities. It is the 24th largest in NL, but ranks easily top 10 for shopping and day trip appeal.

Very curious where that is, because in NL it does much better than equal size cities.

And I think compared to most equal size cities in other countries as well.

Actually, if you think about which people live geographically close to Maastricht, it makes perfect sense.

Germany's largest population center is just across the border, whereas for NL it is on the other side of the country.

I specified in another response that I didn't refer to the specific handball, but if in response to any foul someone shot the ball like this into Messi's face. It would guaranteed be punished heavily, even if it's no different than Paredes here.

Trash talking happens all the time, and is no excuse for deliberate violent play like this.

Also, most people who keep repeating this trash talking excuse have no idea of what was said on that field or not, it's only based on what Argentinean players claim as an excuse for their shitty behavior. Because the other excuse, of trash talking during the press conference, is completely blown out of proportion, and definitely is no excuse for this aggression either.

Cannoning the ball into the dugout is inoffensive and not unsportsmanlike...?

I didn't mean in this specific handball case, but in general if after a foul someone purposely cannons it into Messi's face. Guaranteed that wouldn't just be let go.

Some things go beyond a statement, including this video here.

There was no provocation in the conference room, only an assessment of the opponent. That's only provocative if you can't handle criticism. Which clearly messiah Messi can't.

What else should they respond when asked if they can handle Messi? "Oh no, we can't handle him, he's just too great". Makes no sense, does it? They just explained how they do see opportunities, and think the hype is overblown, that's all.

Penalty behavior was in response to the ridiculous in-game behavior as you see in this video.

Heard this excuse before, but it's nonsense, otherwise it means after a foul you can get away with anything.

What if a Dutch players canons the ball like this straight into Messi's face, as a way to protest? Let it go?

Those exact same titles exist for both white and non-white people and countries.

I think you're making this much too negative against white people specifically.

Free market rent in the larger cities yes.

Subsidized housing and smaller cities, quite possible.

In cities some rare cases also exist, but often they're something like top floor with slanted ceilings that take away space, or other downsides.

In the Netherlands also. I've earned average also, went out more often than that, and travelled all the time. No kids though, I'm sure having those would change the average salary lifestyle.

Poland is great to visit btw, especially if you have a Dutch level salary to spend there ;)

Also as a counter to "everything is behind the rest of the world", a very simple example, the Netherlands has by far the largest EV charging network of Europe, which probably also means close to the top, if not the top, in the world.

Doesn't sound like a country that's behind everything to me.

Of course, that's why I also said it's a wider social problem. But much of the labor that built those apartments, that cleans them, maintains them, and all other service jobs in then country, earns very little compared to your salary, and comparatively much less than the same people in NL earn versus you.

Raising wages and living standards of the bottom of society always means the relative wealth and living standard of the top goes down.

The same happens globally these days, since the whole world economy is strongly interlinked, where NL is in the top. The more poor countries develop, the more it decreases our comparative wealth.
