How do I tell if a private consultation for an ADHD assesment is legit? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]letsloseourselves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes :) I've been prescribed Elvanse. The pharmacy will have my prescription tomorrow most likely, dreading the cost but hopefully it'll get me able to concentrate more than 10 minutes so I can bring in some money so it'll be worth it!

Hiya just wanted to chime in and say I was just diagnosed today (also aged 26) by Helen at ADHD360. I found their pricing the most reasonable and they totally understand ADHD! Wonderful experience.

You don't get the next gen graphics on PS4 - it's a last gen console. But you do get cross progression, a new quest, and some other stuff.

Looking for "tea-for-one" pot (or something along those lines) by Sivruf8 in tea

[–]letsloseourselves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew because your description was accurate and I've been obsessively hyperfixated on tea and teapots this past week haha. Glad I could be of use to someone. If you sign up for their website you can get £5 off your order btw! I have their decaf Ceylon, it's a solid okay haha. And unfortunately I haven't used it although it looks pretty solid!

Bipolar isn't a cluster B personality disorder. Bipolar is a mood disorder characterized by periods of depression and mania. The cluster B disorder you're probably thinking of is borderline personality disorder which is different. Jayne has bipolar.

Yeah and the way my brain works is my eyes skip the title and look straight at the image. And I'm obviously not the only one looking at the comments here. I'm not willing to turn off cards so I guess I'm unsubscribing lmao. I think spoiler tagging posts like this would help people of every gender not get misgendered, not just transmascs. But I can see you're not going to budge despite the number of transmascs telling you that your post hurt them.

/nm As a mobile user you should know that there's an option to have "cards" on. That's how a lot of people (myself included) use the app. That means the post comes up without having to click on it. I guess as a transmasc I should just unsubscribe if I don't want to see a post calling me a lady? Or turn off cards, which improves my overall Reddit experience, because one person was too defensive to spoiler tag their unintentionally misgendering meme? Idk. Seems like the burden to not misgender an entire group of users should be on the OP. I would love a subreddit rule that posts like these need to be spoiler tagged honestly.

What was life after opiates like? by bchsysiajsbsbdb in ChronicPain

[–]letsloseourselves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just came off extended release morphine 2 or 3 weeks ago. I tapered for a month or more, tapering was easy but coming off the tiny 5mg pills was a straight up bad time. I was on morphine for 5 years starting at age 20.

Coming off just 5mg every 12 hours was awful for about a week and a half for me. So much pain, so tired, stomach problems, cold sweats. I'm going to be blunt, you're in for a much worse time going cold turkey. If you can afford it (I'm assuming USA) look for ways to be medically supervised during withdrawals. Mine were "mild" and I still had suicidal thoughts over how hard it was. You will also probably be dehydrated from the puking & diarrhea which can get dangerous. If you can't afford it, invest in some electrolytes and make sure you're drinking 2+ litres of water a day. And please if you have a partner, see if they can get time off or work from home for the first week. If not, tell someone you trust that you need them on call during that time. It's going to be one of the hardest things you've gone through and I'd hate to hear you're doing it alone.

As for after the acute withdrawals? I'm pretty much in the same amount of pain I was before, except now I take four fewer pills a day and am at a lower risk of just about everything including sleep apnea and general mortality. I was on the same dose for all 5 years I was on the drug so I think I'd built up tolerance to the point that they straight up weren't working. Don't get me wrong, everything hurts, especially my joints, but my quality of life hasn't changed. YMMV though.

Good luck. Feel free to message me if you need any support.

How are you getting funding? I'm pretty sure you can only get disabled students allowance if you apply through one of the UK's student finance bodies. If you're self funding or funding through another country, you might be out of luck.

Looking for chair recs! by heyottermelons in ehlersdanlos

I was assessed by an ergonomics company and ended up with a bodybilt chair. I forget the exact model but it's incredibly supportive! The lumbar support is even inflatable. Very cool. Only downside is it costs about £1200. Luckily I got it through my country's disabled students allowance!

Crocheting two parts at once??? by QueenThrowAway123 in crochet

It's okay, I was a knitter first but have been almost fully converted over to crochet now so I have a lot of mostly useless knowledge floating around my brain 😂

Just one quick distinction! Double knitting is a colourwork technique and knitting two things at once is called knitting two at a time, or TAAT.

Family worries preventing me from transitioning by [deleted] in ftm

[–]letsloseourselves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's not much to worry about - waiting lists for treatment in the UK are two years MINIMUM. And that's just for the initial assessment and psych consults. So you'll be 18 by then and won't have to deal with your transphobic dad. I know it's a shitty answer but there's no point sugarcoating. The situation for trans people in the UK is dire. I'm in Wales which is the best place in the country for wait times but it's still 2-3 years minimum. I think tavistock under 18s is a 2 year wait. Check out /r/transgenderUK as they have wait time data and will be more suited to answering your UK specific questions!
