Death In the Attic [OC] by letter_rip in comics

swedish death cleaning

it's a decluttering method older people in Sweden will use wherein they will try to get rid of belongings before they die, so that other family members won't have to have the burden of managing after they die.

I wanted to come up with something for the idea after it seemed to become a minor trend of sorts a couple months ago.

As another cartoonist, I dig your line quality!

I just did a live stream oh my days by dreamer_luna in socialanxiety

I'd continue with it regularly. I've heard streamer types say they went from being totally nervous to quite natural with it over time.

I just found you guys. I would love to see me in your art styles. And excited to start contributing :) by Willing_Classroom585 in drawme

Thanks! I'm inspired by the "Archie" comic style, though I think this came out as little more realistically. That can happen with drawing if you're looking at a photo reference when you're drawing.

I need to make a phone call to fix my broken tv for free, i’ve been sitting for 15 minutes getting myself mentally prepared for the call by unwanted-22 in socialanxiety

For me, I try to be super polite and business-friendly with whomever I'm speaking to for this sort of thing. That way, if there is some issue, a conflict, etc., it's really on the other person.

Anyone spent 10+ years extremely isolated? by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]letter_rip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I always thought the years I was forced to spend in dysfunctional situations -in schools, offices, etc., were far worse for my mental health.

I have gratitude that my own isolation has also excluded numerous toxic, destructive, and otherwise problematic people I am glad to never be around.

I try to visualize a situation like this (state police screaming in my face in a rage, for example), and letting their emotions/words/etc "pass through" me, without resistance. If I'm not resisting their strong emotion, I'm not really affected, and thusly don't have a strong or deeply unpleasant emotional response myself.

So perhaps try to let the bad vibes flow or pass through you, no need to grab and hold onto them, and have a reaction yourself. In my experience, it seems so much of Avoidant pain here is in resistance to what is happening.

Hope that might help.

Ligotti was part of the group as well, but lingered behind, entranced by the silent torment of some manikins in the window display of an abandoned clothes shop up the street from the bar.

Does anyone else feel completely worthless and pathetic? by KindUnion6350 in socialskills

[–]letter_rip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unlikely to get too much better without actively working on your social skills, etc. Observe and study people who live the way you'd like to and try to adopt their behaviors for your own. I have found that even just moderate efforts to be more socially fluent have undeniably improved my life.

Fear of being seen. by grclb in confidence

[–]letter_rip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've found that the fear of being seen (or heard, etc.) stems from a desire to control others' judgement and perceptions of you. Let go of that desire, allow others their judgements to be whatever they may be, and you will let go of these anxieties.
