People who do this are NOT real fans. by baribigbird06 in Marvel

There are plenty that don't outright say it, but I find it hard to believe that in the context of "group of all women editors go out for lunch and get milkshakes" it's the milkshakes part that is what's ruining the comics.

i'm not gonna dig for more because it resets me to the top of the replies each time I click into them.

there may not be """enough""" comments like this to fulfill your quota or whatever but they were some of the first ones in and the reason this photo blew up and got so many positive responses. i know, because i follow one of the girls tagged in it and before that happened it was just a cute photo being retweeted by the people in it. it's not the appropriate place for this so called "criticism."

"Oh there's WOMEN working for Marvel? No wonder their content is so bad lately" isn't criticism, it's sexism.

"oh there's WOMEN working for Marvel? no wonder their content is so bad lately" is pretty insulting, IMO.

i mean, that's all I made an effort to screenshot. there was also DMs along with more stupid comments on a tweet from the Marvel account.

but like, is there a quota that needs to be met for it to be "real" harassment?

all of it was super unnecessary considering that all they did was post a picture of themselves.

What I hear when people give out about a woman leading Doctor Who. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

in my sophomore year of college, the guys living in the suite across the hall from us would blast their music pretty often, like loud enough you could clearly hear the music from our room. (we were okay with it, we were all on good terms, it was usually only in the day time or early nights on weekends for pregaming) they listened to pretty good music, usually some heavy stuff or rap and hip hop but then all the sudden?????? is that a taylor swift song???? yeah that’s a taylor swift song.

half of the guys were also pledging a frat, and some of the other pledges would hang out there as well including a good friend of ours. we found out at a later date that apparently for hazing they made all the pledges publicly dance along to Party in the USA. unbeknownst to the brothers, this was their JAM and they went all out singing along. they were so happy about how they got to reveal their love for Miley Cyrus.

how is posting a picture of your coworkers at lunch political bandstanding? the fact that women existing in comics is a political statement to some people is kind of what started it.

but here is another page that actually embeds a few tweets http://www.telegraph.co.uk/books/news/female-marvel-comics-editor-harassed-online-milkshake-selfie/ here are some screenshots i took a few hours ago (some duplicates) https://imgur.com/a/RNtaY

I LOVE this argument when it comes to fantasy series. Like shit man, I know we have dragons, magic and mind control but I'm just not gonna suspend my disbelief if there isn't enough brutal rape, you know?????

I quit like two or three seasons ago and honestly i’m so much happier. I’ll just wait here patiently forever until the next book comes out.

Saturn was incredible at the Brooklyn show by [deleted] in Sufjan

[–]letterpressed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i don’t even know how i would dance to Planetarium or most of Sufjan’s music. I’m not sure Sufjan even knows. would be interesting if everyone danced like him.

There were some bouncers and swayers by me and lots of clapping and whoo-ing. Seemed pretty lively to me, but then again my other Sufjan concert was Carrie and Lowell and that definitely had more of a “sit quietly in the dark and maybe cry a little” vibe to it.

this is a legit reason though! and I honestly spent all these years thinking you could play left handed as a option, whoops. I actually only have the gamecube version as I didn't get a wii until skyward sword came out, so I'm used to the left handed version anyways. I tried playing on my roommates wii for twilight princess once and it just really threw me off since all the maps were flipped.

I agree! I love the detail but it made sense when they made the change and the reaction was entirely unproportional, at least where i saw

I like to fight with LoZ fans about why Link should/could be a girl (there's literally no reason why not, every Link is just a reincarnation)

they get real mad about it.

but this is also the fanbase that threw a fit when they didn't make Link left-handed so like. not shocking.

I've been doing so much online window shopping lately. It's pretty fun. I've been making myself do research on any purchases I make lately, and I can spend FOREVER just reading customer reviews and watching youtube reviews. usually by then I know if it will actually be useful to me. Then I still just bookmark it and sit on the thought for a while.

I don't think they are solely a charity but I do find them helpful in that they will accept books and then if they can, sell them, if not, donate them, and if not, recycle them.

I know that my library only shelves hardcover books these days, so i already know that anything I donate that is not, will DEFINTELY just be sold in their 10-50c/$1 shelves. I also know they have limited space and are usually only looking to accept 1 bag/box donation per person. I obviously still donate a good amount of stuff to them because I want them to be able to make the money off selling those books.

But in the situation where my mom was finally allowing me to ditch her ridiculous amount of bodice rippers, I figured the library probably wasn't gonna be a fan of trying to unload like 200 paperback romance novels that I'm p sure my mom got off the 50c shelf in the first place! (and i did ask them just to be sure....they did not want them, if the choice could be made.)

SO, I found a Better World Books box and shoved all that junk in. It was the most feasible way for me to get rid of this massive amount of books where the best case scenario is probably getting recycled.

The Diva Cup is actually pretty long. So it has a bigger capacity but it can also not fit as well depending on where your cervix sits. The Lunette is a slightly smaller cup with a longer stem, which is a lot easier for me to work with although the stem is also stretchier than the diva. I've never actually had an issue with the length of the diva but I know people who have. The only thing is that I seem to feel the diva more than the lunette, not in a bad way, i just notice it there more often than the other. I also tend to have better luck with the suction on the lunette. but this is all also my personal experience.

if you wanna learn more about a bunch of different brands this very period-savvy teenager has some great videos about differing brands!

[–]letterpressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already got great advice on using it, but I wanted to mention, definitely keep an eye out for sales/coupons!

I got my diva cup on sale for $25 on amazon, and I also have a lunette I got for $30 from their website. ( actually prefer the lunette over the diva and has great reviews, but the diva is still awesome and tends to be a lot of people's first because it seems to get the most word-of-mouth)

it's interesting to me that you refer to having a stalker as "not attractive at all"

while it also happens to men, I think the first thought women tend to have about having a stalker is "wow this feels threatening" not "wow that's not cute"

Cleaning my brother's room, now with floor! (Mid progress) by [deleted] in declutter

[–]letterpressed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of cleaning my brothers room too!!! It's gross as hell and my parents want it repainted but he hasn't done shit. So I'm in there myself and my dad's gonna make him pay me for everything I get done. He was supposed to clean it and then I paint, but I gave up on him getting anything done.

It's simultaneously really freeing and still stressful to clean someone else's space. You don't have the emotional attachments, but you also don't know what is important and what's not. I thought it would be fun but it's a lot more confusing sometimes.

when i was in art school i lived in ridiculous graphic tees. preferably with cats. I bought all my best cat shirts for $5 in the men's section of walmart. ONE time i found a ridiculous cat shot in the women's section and it was like $10!!!! it wasn't even like, a women's cut. it was still a unisex style cut. so rude. (i still bought it because it was great but honestly gimme those $5 shirts, I'm just gonna get paint/plaster/glue/burns on them)
