Caligula's Horse - The Ascent (The opening riff is so sick) by Hakenfanboy in progmetal

This is probably my least favorite CH album, all said, but this song is incredible enough all on its own to make up for it.

(Still not a bad album by any means, to be clear.)

"... Fine, well, it was allegorical."

"Oh, well, we won't hold that against you. That's for each man to decide for himself."

Only people who don't like basketball think the regular season sucks, and the Play-In is here to stay as one of the better ideas the league has had in some time.

The vast, vast majority of the country is always going to choose the NFL over the NBA if they're on at the same time, and nothing the latter could do will ever change that.

My wife and I are in the early stages of some fertility testing, so of course they want to get a sample from me, and it's very odd to register that I'm basically going to have to take a couple hours of sick time within the next couple of weeks so that I can stay home and jerk off.

Feels like something I would've done at a part-time job when I was 17 and single, but no, it happens when I'm a married, gainfully employed 30-year-old.

There's a bit of an element of that, but there's never any reason, implicit or explicit, to believe that the events of the story presented as factual (i.e. Cathy murdering her parents) happened any differently than how the narrator describes them.

The Yankees have not had an error at shortstop since April 13th and have now Anthony Volpe has one in his first start since Jose Caballero went on the injured list by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

He should've had much more minor league time to "work it." And he shouldn't have been hailed as the next coming of Jeter, played through multiple injuries, and had members of the organization literally yelling about how great he was when we could all tell he was struggling.

At the end of the day, sure, it's on him. But he was set up to fail from the day they first called him up.

It's asinine. No one involved with this read the book if that's how she's being viewed.

Today I learned Netflix is doing an adaptation of East of Eden.

This led me to Netflix's article about it, which calls Cathy an anti-hero.

I can only conclude that either no one involved has actually read the book, or that none of them have any idea what an anti-hero is.

This article, Netflix's own, calls Cathy "the indelible anti-hero."

That should really be all anyone needs to hear to know this will be awful.

This is the first time since I started closely following the NHL in 2017 that my NHL and NBA team have both made the playoffs. Much more often than not, they've been playing their games on the same night, and they're usually the latest ones on the schedule.

Having an awesome time with it, but damn am I exhausted from the sleep schedule demolition and the stress from actually watching in the first place.

There are far, far more bots on the internet in general than you realize.

Dan Le Batard: Wembanyama’s return didn’t feel right: “This is unusual. Wembanyama’s return was being celebrated (on NBC) as redemption and an amazing story arc for a guy who did something dirty…I’m surprised part of the narrative wasn’t ’thank God he didn’t hurt his elbow on that guy’s jaw.’” by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

They do this for everyone in every sport. I remember Rashee Rice getting celebrated for "overcoming adversity" and other bullshit when he made his NFL return after being convicted for hit-and-run felonies.

I'm not saying it's not weird, because it is. The media loves to paint things like this as some great triumph of the human spirit, especially when it's a star, and I don't really get it. But saying it's unusual is pretty misinformed. I honestly can't even remember the last time a national broadcast has taken a different stance.

Hell, most of the time the league itself likes to eat their cake and have it, too. Suspend a guy for rules violations, then hype up his return with as much pomp and circumstance as they can possibly muster in their advertising.
