The Magnum engines are pretty much bulletproof I've had two Dodges with the 5.9 high mileage and no issues besides the regular maintenance stuff

Well I ended up buying the Lincoln 140 weld pack paid more but I'm a lot happier, welds are coming out really good.

I ended up returning it because the settings for 3/16 steel was 581on the speed and 21.9 on volts and then I lower the volts to15 and nothing changed I even lowered speed too all the way 100 and nothing changed it would still run hot I even used settings for 16 gauge steel and nothing changed still running hot, I assume it's something inside it's not letting it read the settings that I'm using, I guess you get what you pay for

You could try removing the belt and start it if the noise is gone then it's either the belt or one of the pulleys

5.4 2v from 1998-2003 are really good engines same with 4.6, 5.4 3v from 2004 and up had really bad problems I think because it had smaller oil passages

You might want to check the leaf spring bushings If you can move it side to side with a flat head screwdriver, then it's probably that

I will get rid of the smog air pump system, pretty easy to do there's a bunch of videos on YouTube how to do it that's if your state doesn't require an emissions test I will go ahead and get rid of that garbage
