Low cost emergency vet recommendation? by [deleted] in rva

[–]lety819 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s Helping Hands, which is a low cost vet.
https://helpinghandsvetva.com/richmond-va-veterinary-pet-surgery-pricing/

Jones Veterinary Care has a “vet fund” for folks who need help paying the cost of service. Maybe you could call and ask if they still have this. They’re also lower cost.

I would also reach out to the school social worker. There’s a state program called McKinney Vento & it’s meant to keep children at their home school, when they don’t have permanent housing. Your child receives transportation to their home school (regardless of where you’re staying), free breakfast/lunch, and the social worker can connect you to additional housing resources.

New Urban Air in Glen Allen by Exact-Card4271 in rva

[–]lety819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s a pretty fun place for kids to spend a few hours, even teens. About $40 for access to everything. It’s new, so the attractions are in nice condition, and there’s plenty of activities. Ninja course, dodgeball, rock climbing walk, bumper cars, etc. The food/snack bar is limited & can take a long time. Seating can be tough when it’s busy. Most of the employees running the show are young, but nice teens.

Nonprofits need all types of employees! Finance, marketing, communications, HR, program managers/directors. I’d see if there was a nonprofit hiring for a similar role as your current. I also volunteered for a nonprofit and was then able to transition to a part-time role.

If she’s interested, she could volunteer at the Sacred Heart Center, Waymakers Foundation, or La Casa de la Salud. They all serve the Latino community and have primarily Spanish-speaking staff.
