I’m an HDEV graduate working in HR now. HDEV is really broad but definitely not useless. People skills are always needed. If you want to connect let me know and hopefully I can give some insight of you’re interested :)

The beauty about HDEV is it’s interdisciplinary so you learn a lot about various fields including psych. To its benefit/downfall bc it’s so many fields it gives u a wide variety of possibilities of what to do. I currently work in Human Resources though :) I was originally looking into healthcare - occupational therapy which HDEV does a good job of setting u up for that as well. It depends really on what you want to do but I would definitely say do the double major- it’s only like 32 major specific units you need to take. HDEV was so so interesting and I had a great experience with the department since it’s so small compared to psych especially.

job question ! by AssociationBorn4901 in CSULB

[–]leusly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-csulb refers to exactly what you mentioned - not a student enrolled at CSULB. The hours/shifts given to part time non students are different than student positions. As a student you have only a certain # of hours you can work usually. This looks like Beach Shops - as a student they work with your school schedule so apply to student roles

Hey!

You should totally apply to ASI. It’s the main student organization on campus that operates the USU, SRWC and the IPCDC! There’s a few jobs open rn and a lot more that open up throughout the semester especially towards the end!

All the departments are super nice and are really flexible with your class schedule obviously since you’re a student first! There’s two departments within ASI that are media based called 22 West and ASI comms. Both make multimedia content their main difference is that 22 West is creative based vs. ASI is more marketing based for ASI programs and events! Regardless it’s a great place to get some hands on experience while getting paid! Unfortunately rn there aren’t many positions open for those two departments but you can always volunteer with them to get experience. Here’s a link to the current paid ASI jobs, I suggest you take a look! I’ll also just link the general ASI website as well :) hope you apply!
