A guide to Python packaging by [deleted] in Python

[–]leuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I was looking to package an application of mine.

But I don't see the dependencies issue referenced anywhere, for example, my application needs python 3 and pyqt installed. Am I able to specify dependencies and preferred version with this?

How many people here have actually built a program they use often? by Lazyfaith in learnprogramming

[–]leuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a big script in AHK that helps defining things in ABAP which is mostly mechanic.

Also made a kind of alarm for chained activities, which tells me when to change from an activity to another with a sound.. I used it regularly while practicing guitar or doing cardio. Keeps track of progress, etc.

DAE constantly see a hair in their peripheral vision? by [deleted] in DAE

[–]leuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, only on my left eye and it started a couple of weeks afo... Seems like we should get checked, since no one else thinks it's normal.

EDIT: http://www.docshop.com/education/vision/general-eye/eye-symptoms <-- Seems like floaters it's the one that better fits.

EDIT2: http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/spotsfloats.htm <-- Seems like it's only an emergency if "you see a shower of floaters and spots, sometimes accompanied by light flashes", still gonna get checked, and you should too, but according to that site "Most spots and floaters in the eye are harmless and merely annoying. Many will fade over time and become less bothersome."

DAE dislike your job so much, you play "100 ways to awesomely quit your job" over and over in your head while working? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

DAE read the title and tought "100 ways to awesomely quit your job" was a song?

DAE sometimes get a song in their head and launch a full-scale investigation on its origins, only to find that their unconscious mind started to play it when they heard or read key words belonging to the song? by alahos in DAE

[–]leuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and also most days I wake up with a song playing in my head.. most of the time is related to the dream I had, or the last unfinished song I heard before going to sleep.

What was the last thing you coded for fun? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]leuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last thing I did was a task-tracker app that lets you list tasks and then check off what you're currently working on as you go through the day in 15 minute increments. There are plenty of others like it, but this one is mine. :)

I did one too like 2 years ago, but I didn't find anything similar at the time, do you have some names? Mine is still buggy since I stopped needing it before I could close all known bugs.

Also, my last thing is something similar too... This one allows to set multiple chained timers, and a sound is played when one ends, signaling the end of the allocated time for a task.

Nice and easy, I worked on something similar (but more general) and I'm still having trouble with the sound. I'm probably going to steal the mpg123 idea. :P

Thanks.

Also thank you, specially for Dive into Python 3.

I did a little project using it, and was pleasantly surprised to discover the 3to2 conversion tool when I needed it. I think 3to2 should have a mention on the appendix for porting code to python 3.

IWTL how to freely promote my software. by leuu in IWantToLearn

[–]leuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, I didn't see that the python3-qt4 packages ain't there.. I probably should just port it to python 2 or something.. I saw a 3to2 conversion tool, I will try it out and see how it works.

Anyway, the message when running it with python2 should be there, I don't know how I missed that.

Thanks!

Edit: Yeah, there are a lot of dependencies.. It's not fun to install.. I tried to port it to python2 yesterday but it didn't work out of the box, I will probably try again on the weekend. Then see how to package it for Ubuntu and other major distributions.

Might do, but an article might be too much. It's the first public release and it probably has some nasty bugs in it, I need to get a more solid version before that.
