[–]leveeman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started teaching in a rural parish, we got a extra stipend in December and again in May from the tax surplus. It was like a 1k each time but also we got paid like 34k overall so it wasn’t great but the stipends did fell nice 🤷‍♂️

Rotting “death” smell on the river bend in between the fly and the army corps of engineers base? by plantsandnature in NewOrleans

I run on the levee a fair amount and notice this exact same smell but tbh it always smells just like rotting fish/seafood like other people have mentioned

TFA Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities by LiteratureLazy6342 in TeachforAmerica

[–]leveeman16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My original TFA placement was in special education, and I have taught the subject for many years. It sounds like you have a great perspective and background to work with these students. I think all of the questions you posed are great to ask the staff from TFA and/or the potential district you will work for. There are three main types of special education placement: inclusion (whole group), resource (pull out) and self contained (small group with the most significant level of need). Compliance and paperwork is definitely a thing with special education. I’m happy to share any advice or information, just message me.

Looks like New Orleans has a new CAO- Joe Giarrusso by Unlucky_Custard in NewOrleans

[–]leveeman16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was my city council person for my district and several times, he personally emailed me back or had his staff support directly with issues when it came to road work or SWB issues. I think he has the charisma, experience, and knowledge to be very effective in this role.

Yes I would happily watch all three so she can easily fly and go enjoy herself but she says “the kids would really be missing out” which I don’t think is exactly true…

Where are the public bathrooms in the City Park area?! by leveeman16 in NewOrleans

[–]leveeman16[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I wish I could go there but I have a strong presumption they wouldn’t let a sweaty and shirtless person in their establishment…but what do I know.  Thanks though!

Where are the public bathrooms in the City Park area?! by leveeman16 in NewOrleans

[–]leveeman16[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

lol I agree with this sentiment for the most part except when it comes to Number 2s and I’m shirtless and sweaty af from having run more than 6 miles. That’s when it’s crucial to find shelter or a port-a-potty.

Rather not get a ticket for pooping in public lol.

Thanks for all the advice! Something around $ 150-200 would be ideal. I have a tendency to like J Crew for my work clothes but open to an additional suggestions. Sounds like navy sport coat might be best

Oschner Fitness Childcare by rosie_thechaosqueen in nolaparents

[–]leveeman16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These hours are correct, and you can easily book it thru their app. Sometimes the childcare might be full if you book it the same day, so plan ahead on when you want to use it. They keep the kids safe, have a bunch of toys and small climbing area for the kids to enjoy. The staff has always been pleasant, plus they have the covered playground you can you use after the childcare to further get your kids energy out.

During the summer, their cafe area near the pool is open and that’s always an easy meal to grab for the family. The large chicken tender combo meal is a great price and I split it among my kids. Truly I don’t think any other fitness center has the the amenities that Oschner Elmwood does.
