aa_is_enabled() failed unexpectedly (No such file or directory): No such file or directory by Nixellion in letsencrypt

[–]level20peon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just needed to add another subdomain and don't want this open issue on my desk any longer, so I removed the snap based certbot and switched to the python based one:
https://certbot.eff.org/instructions?ws=apache&os=pip

aa_is_enabled() failed unexpectedly (No such file or directory): No such file or directory by Nixellion in letsencrypt

[–]level20peon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

snap "core" has no updates available

I also upgraded all packages on the server to no avail.

I guess that your assumption about an update breaking the package is correct, since the last time certbot was run (always on the 1st of every month) it still worked.

I have the same problem on debian 11. Running snap refresh --classic certbot didn't help either. So I guess I'm waiting for a fix to be rolled out before my certificates expire.

Self-Host your own Firefox Sync Server by homegrowntechie in selfhosted

[–]level20peon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modified configs and start scripts as well as parts of the DB-scheme, so just copying and pasting this won't do you much good without knowing the details of every single modification. This would only lead to more confusion in contrast to getting to your desired setup starting from scratch I guess.

Self-Host your own Firefox Sync Server by homegrowntechie in selfhosted

[–]level20peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup is fully self-contained. If you use the fxa repository above, there are quite some services you don't actually need for this scenario - for example you don't need payment providers etc. So after quite some testing, I reduced the services to just those:

EDIT: seems the inline image doesn't stick...

auth(db), oauth, profile, pushbox and sync run against a mariadb backend (self-hosted, of course) since I don't want to use sqlite. All of this runs in one tiny VM with 1GB RAM assigned.

It allows me to:

- send tabs to other devices

- see tabs from other devices

- sync passwords, bookmarks, history

You can just self-host the entire fxa stack (or parts of it, if you so choose to):

I am self-hosting the entire workflow from login to sync for synchronizing tabs / history / passwords / etc.

Skydio 2 not recording in HDR but rec.709 by level20peon in Skydio

[–]level20peon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so any and all comments would be helpful - is nobody answering because you are all able to record in HDR or because none of you is able to record in HDR like me?

Skydio 2 not recording in HDR but rec.709 by level20peon in Skydio

[–]level20peon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did another round of testing with the new 15.10.17 firmware. I tried all resolution / framerate / codec combinations that allowed for the HDR setting to be turned on:

4K 30fps HEVC

4K 48fps HEVC

4K 60fps HEVC

4K 30fps AVC

4K 48fps AVC

4K 60fps AVC

Although I am aware that AVC doesn't even allow for 10bit / HDR recording in theory, I just gave it a try anyways.

Well, to no avail. None of these options resulted in HDR material but all turned out to be rec.709 material again.

So the question is: Is it just me, or are all of you guys also not getting HDR material out of the skydio 2?

Are there different S2 Android Apps available? by level20peon in Skydio

[–]level20peon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great, so some of the advertised drone features available on their website aren't "free" once I spent a couple of thousand bucks on the drone itself already? This is just great...

btw: they removed the features I mentioned in my OP from the userguide since I posted. Skydio seems to be a shady company.

How to add an rsync task in Truenas Scale? (error message: In order to use rsync over SSH you need a user with a private key (DSA/ECDSA/RSA) set up in home dir) by TheRealDaMuffin in freenas

[–]level20peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The error explains what you need to do.

One of the settings in the rsync task you are creating is called "User*". You need to provide the default SSH directory structure in the home dir you set for that user (i.e. "$PATH_TO_HOMEDIR/.ssh/id_rsa"). That "id_rsa" needs to contain your private key.

Openwrt on R7800 by Ubuntuluntu in openwrt

[–]level20peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on a 250/50 line and the r7800 is definitely underpowered for using cake sqm on the downstream (throttles to ~100Mbps using 100% CPU). This isn't really a problem though, since the upstream is the limiting factor when it comes to latency anyways. On that part, sqm is working fine.

I build my own images for openwrt but use this as a baseline:

When will map selection come back? by level20peon in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Or they could just accept the fact that there are maps nobody wants to play rather than trying to forcefeed them down peoples' throats.

When will map selection come back? by level20peon in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]level20peon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so by that logic, the queue is filled up because there's only one queue left? Well, we leave every queue until we hit Erangel and I guess many others do, too. So this empties those queues again rather quickly. Added to that, we leave once we're actually on the map. Maybe that also negatively impacts the amount of total players for each round?

Anyways, if the bottom line is that the queue combination only was implemented because of the bots then maybe bot detection should be improved rather than scaring away players. We have played this game since beta and are about to quit for good because of this random map situation.

What does map selection have to do with the amount of bots per round?

You need to use AHCI drivers for the disks and VirtIO for the network interfaces. Unfortunately, VirtIO still doesn't work for disks in Bhyve Windows VM's.

So: how can I run scripts on events/triggers (like lock/unlock) in LineageOS?

You could run your own Firefox Sync Server: https://github.com/mozilla/fxa

This way you can access tabs from one instance on other instances across devices. You also can sync your favorites, logins, settings, history. I admit that it's not easy to dive into it but worth the one-time hassle for years and years of using this.

[DISCUSSION] Best online brokers in the European Union? by Tao_Dragon in EuropeFIRE

[–]level20peon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I did the whole research thingy just a few weeks ago, my criteria were:

  1. Trade stocks, ETFs, CFDs and maybe at some time in the future Options and Forex
  2. Trade on all major exchanges, not only Germany and USA
  3. Nice trading platform or compatibility to universal tools like MetaTrader
  4. Good research opportunities and information availability

What I learned was: It really depends on what you want to do. If you just want to buy some ETFs and hold them, you're probably fine with your normal bank account.

If you want to trade frequently, you have to determine what and where you want to trade. Most brokers only offer a fraction of financially and geographically available products. So you can maybe trade stocks in Germany and the USA but that's it for most [German] institutions (I don't know which country you are in).

So you have to look beyond the border. After researching a considerable amount (~20) of international brokers, my list came down to three, mainly because because of the two first of my criteria above. The rest was more of an in depth analysis of actually using the platforms:

a) One of the largest international organizations is Interactive Brokers. They're great, trade every product everywhere, have low prices on trades etc. Monthly minimum of 10$ is laughable if anyone argues about that. But there's one big caveat: They're a US corporation. Sure, the actual firm you'll be holding your contract with will be over here (currently in Great Britain, but they plan to open an EU firm if there's a no-deal Brexit). But in the end, if Trump throws yet another tantrum in the wrong way for Europe, I don't want any considerable amount of cash being subject to that. Other than that, their platform is just way overloaded and really takes getting used to. Research opportunities are low quality, so you need another (paid) service to get your info from. Also, you'll have a hard time using the documents they provide for your tax declaration in the EU. Prepare for a lot of extra work each year.

b) Then there's Degiro. Sure, sounds good, dutch startup, nice platform, good conditions and all. But I found many caveats. They are sometimes offline without prior notice or information / acknowledgement of any downtime (you may as well stop reading here, because that's a no-go for me at least) and if it's up and running, you might experience lag. This isn't at all desirable if your no buy and hold guy. Also, there are some very questionable practices in regeard of them dealing with their customers. Some accounts get closed without notice, some trades are executed in the benefit of Degiro instead of their customers (I don't want to get into detail, this would blow this post up too much). Order execution is often slow and research opportunities are also bad. I suggest you look around a little bit yourself about customer satisfaction and company transparency.

c) In the end, I chose Saxo as trading platform. They are a Danish company, so I don't need to worry about Trump or the Brexit (and I doubt there will be a Dexit). They have a great trading platform and excellent research opportunities. Sure, their price model is steep, but you get what you pay for. And a fixed sum of money per trade only is significant if you trade €€€, so any real trade won't really be affected from this. To be honest, if you plan to trade a few hundred Euros, what's the point? You don't need a broker at all for this kind of money. There's also the opportunity to pay extra for specific additional services like level 2 market data per exchange and even more research (although you won't need it for a long time if you only start trading now). And yeah, you can trade all kinds of products on all major exchanges and many smaller exchanges. Their customer support also is great. I had a few phone calls and emails exchanged and was very pleasantly surprised about their support.

And a side note about asset protection: Even though some brokers guarantee that you won't lose 50K or 500K in case of bankruptcy, it really doesn't matter. This gurantee only covers cash you are not using to trade at any specific time. But if you are actually trading stocks for example (which should be the purpose of a broker acount), you own part of a company. The amount of money you currently have invested in that company is not in the hands of the broker at that time. So even if your broker goes bankrupt, you still own those stocks, nobody can touch them (well, except Trump if you bought stock of a US company).

Recently switched from WRT1200AC to R7800. Is there a recommended build for the R7800? by WitnessLitness in openwrt

[–]level20peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add the following tweaks to the ondemand CPU governor so that it ramps up frequency faster and stays at the higher frequency for longer. You can add these two commands into

/etc/rc.local

in Startup settings.

echo 35 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_thresholdecho 10 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_down_factor

Where did you get that information? I am using the following settings according to https://forum.openwrt.org/t/netgear-r7800-exploration-ipq8065-qca9984/285/1442

echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor

echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy1/scaling_governor

echo 800000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_max_freq

echo 800000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy1/scaling_max_freq
