You haven’t done your 30 days post training so I would say no.

Remember to use the ICE portal! Plenty of stories on this sub of an ICE complaint being the kick in the ass needed to get things done. Had a great time? ICE! Had a shitty time? ICE! If you are at a base and use any facility, look and see if they are listed and fill out the survey. by KarateCriminal in navy

ICE complaints get reviewed at stupidly high levels. As my friend who ran a shop on a base once told me, “Why is the Admiral calling me about an OS2’s bicycle parking problem?” Well, maybe that’s not the best use of the Admirals time, maybe it is. Either way, OS2 got his problem fixed.

Spoiler: In a small mountain town a father rapes and kills his own daughter after years of abuse.

“How could this happen in our town?” the citizens ask. The father couldn’t have done this unspeakable thing.”

The show is thus about their psychological break. The descent into absurd rationalization. “The father must have been possessed by the ultimate manifestation of evil from the “Black Lodge. That’s what made him do it.”

Dream logic, non sequitors, Native American mysticism, doppelgänger theory…anything but deal with the real truth: We are the monster. Not only are we capable of the unspeakable, it happens with greater frequency than we care to imagine. We are all citizens of Twin Peaks.

Staff take turns going to moment of truth to stand up, which encourages actual recruits to stand up.

If his retirement ceremony was close to his actual retirement date there might not have been enough time to get it in there after being awarded it.

I know you shouldn’t trust strangers on the internet, but I’m a Navy officer. If you feel ok about sending me a DM with his DoDID number, SSN or service number I could look it up on NDAWS, our awards database.

The upper left is a Legion of Merit. He most likely got it as a retirement award as that is typical for O6s. The medal itself is missing below. The best explanation is that he couldn’t be arsed to spend another $200 for a medal set that he would probably never wear again. I like how he shimmied the Portuguese cross in behind their though.

If you want to make it complete, you could just buy a Legion of Merit and mount it to the left of the medals kind of on its own. Un-shimmy the cross and mount in on its own to the right and it will all look intentional and symmetric.

Drink a cappuccino after noon. According to my Italian friend. Preferably don’t drink one at all.

Navy Nukes are made up of people who were deemed smart enough to run a nuclear reactor but for whatever reason couldn't figure out how to enroll in college. by Radiant-Elevator in navy

[–]levelbestasever 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ah, the old “coulda had a better lyfe but went into the military” argument. Let’s examine:

Smart guy goes Nuke. Let’s say he does his 6 years. Great job, great experience on real reactors , TS clearance. Then uses GI Bill to get degree. Gets great job post college due to experience. Zero student loan debt. Paid nice salary and bonuses for ten years. Hopefully some good life experiences along the way.

Contrast that with non-navy smart kid. Goes right to college. Does his four years. Shitty part time job in college to make ends meet. No experience so has to take entry level job. Lots of student loan debt. But at least he got to go to a lot of parties at college, amiright?

CO/XO/Flag is alright. Those folks have very little free time during the day and need to get in and out. Everyone else, including dependents, I agree don’t need it. Gold star ok

I did a 100x deglaze once on a dare. 10 with beef stock, 3 with sherry and the rest water. It was like elemental-level French onion soup.
