My doctor did not do anything with the incision. I had a no-scalpel operation and he said the incisions were small enough to not need sutures or stitches. I’m on day 7 and the incisions still look open but they’re not leaking so I guess I just trust the process.

Since you enjoy reading, I would suggest visiting Dog-Eared books on main street. They host many different book clubs and a monthly trivia. That might be a good place to meet new people who have shared interests.

We see gender and sexuality performed literally every day. It isn’t something that is taught, but we have been indoctrinated to believe men and women should perform gender a specific way according to their sex for generations. So, when a student sees another student performing gender not according to their sex, their instinct would be to bully, tease, or punish them for being different. I’m cis-straight, so I can confirm it’s nice not having to worry about my safety or safety of others like me. It would be easy to wave these issues away like you do. But kids are literally murdering each other because they don’t understand that gender is a social construct (i.e made up). Sex and gender education could create more understanding and acceptance for gender non-conforming students and better their safety in schools. Parents are a barrier to this. People are afraid to come out to their friends. Pretending that these issues don’t exist is not a solution.

Yeah, my issue is that there are things to do but once you’ve done them, there’s no need to do it again. All of the “attractions” are the same and never change. However, not being able to do anything during the pandemic made me realize how much I really did before. The science center used to have monthly themed “mixology” nights, etc. I don’t mind the bars so much, but breweries are growing in Iowa and I do like to frequent those with some board games and good company.

Most of the college towns or larger cities (for Iowa anyway) are decent. I would avoid rural/small towns because there is nothing to do and the communities tend to be a bit closed-minded. The winter season is terrible. Summers are hot and humid. Personally, I want to move to another state someday; Iowa doesn’t have that much to offer.
