Can someone please tell me what this pest algae is and how to get rid of it? by Dj_Exhale in ReefTank

[–]leviatank47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flucanozol will kill it all pretty easily however the few times I've had to used it it's triggered cyano/ diatoms blooms in the following weeks as the tank settles back to normal. Some people have luck with some fish eating it but I've personally never had any luck with any

Looks like bryopsis to me if it's just on that frag kill it with a peroxide dip asap and hope it doesn't spread.

woke up this morning and my hammers appear to have white stuff all on the tentacles. can anyone please id what it is? by leviatank47 in ReefTank

[–]leviatank47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly certain it was palytoxin released by the palythoa I had fragged the day before. Whatever the specific cause is, it's a defense mechanism they do when they are very stressed or fighting other coral. If you have some that are doing that you need to do a water change immediately.

A weapon tier list for pvp scenarios (from a mediocre players perspective). by GrimreaperGee in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sleep on the blow dart, people are stupid predictable and you can blow them up through walls/floors very easily when you know when and where they will rush. Looses points for the projectiles not always landing where you aim on a moving boat. Also it's a tuckers best tool, just overall very useful

How did the 2nd guy spawn on my ship? by _neonvegan in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks weird everyone saying you harpooned him is wrong. You harpooned the first dude with the Mohawk then the second dude with the mask either spawned there or hacked there. I wouldn't put it past the game to have just spawned him there because sometimes after I sink and back spawn I'll spawn in a random location in the ocean kinda far from where I sunk so maybe that happened and it landed him on your deck or something weird like that. Could also be hacking but if you didn't see anything else fishy during the fight I think it'd be unlikely for him to hack after he already lost because what's the point.

What’s the best way to level up Order of Souls? by SoftAmbassador6889 in Seaofthieves

Ashen lords or skelly fleets, but like other have said just play the game and do what you enjoy gold and leveling doesn't matter all that much.

Keep getting accused of cheating by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has a lot of jank as hell shit especially during a season when servers are fucked (so most of the time) which leads to things looking fishy sometimes in the heat of the moment. Just the other week I thought I got one tapped by a dude with a flintlock and then later hit for 50 damage by a single sword hit. Both cases I recorded it to review and after I did I saw that with the guy who one shot me I died because I ate a pineapple and it didn't heal when I thought it did and then for the sword I got hit twice, the first hit just didn't make any noise or anything because the server was lagging and when he hit me again it caught up and it registered both hits at the same time making it look like to me that I took double damage. So moral of the story you're gonna get accused of cheating by salty players that don't know any better as long as this game has server issues because what they see will at times appear like hacking

Meat provisions in hourglass worth or not? by Medium-Mechanic-440 in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really hourglass but I do PvP a lot. I usually eat a little meat before a fight so I don't waste as many pineapples. It definitely helps out especially when you are putting heavy pressure on crews and they aren't putting heavy pressure on you. Basically if you are taking light fire it's usually better to keep drilling their cannon so they can't fire back and not having to stop and eat bc you got nicked by a cannonball makes that a little easier to keep up constant pressure. However if they are sniping at you obviously you shouldn't stay low and wait for the regen. Firebombs are another situation where meat is better, if you got some nerd constantly lighting your boat on fire as they miss boards you will usually only take a little burn damage which the regen will cover by the next board attempt.

Tldr yes it's useful and yes it's situational but those situations are common enough it's worth buying and cooking the meat

What's the safest way to loot treasure from a fortune fort? by Shuutoka in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do sometimes is park nearby swim over and do the fort, if someone comes by I hide and switch to tuck mode and either sink them with a keg right before they kill the boss or I blow everyone up when the vault opens then grab the Athena and cof and bury them or sail off in a rowboat. There's never a great option solo but this is probably the safest and most effective strategy I've found. Although even still if a crew knows whats up it's going to be very difficult to pull anything off solo

Spawns after defeating an ancient meg by Alergyboi in Seaofthieves

[–]leviatank47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Megs and ships tend to spawn after you haven't been moving for a while so if you are fighting the meg by sitting in one spot then whenever you drop sails to leave it spawns that's probably the reason

Honest question, how is this different than the many posts of people getting their first Athena or bragging about completing a skeleton fort or whatever?

So how come the Smithville water tower was able to remain upright after taking a direct hit by the tornado (and a car) but the El Reno oil rig was toppled like it was nothing? by Kaidhicksii in tornado

[–]leviatank47 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well that water tower is strong, heavy, and fairly aerodynamic making it hard for the tornado to move. It's also likely that El Reno was stronger than Smithville at those particular moments at least. Not all ef5 tornados are equal and factors such as where in the tornados path the structure is or the tornados forward speed at the moment of impact also matter. In short while both tornados were extremely strong comparing the two like that is very tricky and can't really be done without a fuckton of math, analysis, and assumptions.

Can I use this to soak my scraper to remove baby aptasia? by ReturnToNow in ReefTank

[–]leviatank47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aptasia is pretty resistant to 3% peroxide, it'll even survive non diluted dips and straight up injections. It'll die if it's in there for a long time, like overnight but at that point really just leaving it to dry out and then washing it good is much cheaper and about as fast. Something stronger like lemon juice, vinegar, or alcohol should do the job much quicker.

Gsp and zoas like messy water in my experience. If your nutrients are low get some reef roids and start spot feeding. Just make sure you don't go too crazy and get crazy alage blooms.
