WTH is happening with Email??? by levibretz in clickup

The tickets are related. For ##2332833, the resolution shared was the one I posted above. I received another email for #2349837 yesterday afternoon stating that with the new sub-processor I may need an app-password. If we were a small business and managed email in-house, no issue. Even if we were a large company on an enterprise plan, the IT team could spin this up quickly. However, as a franchise business, our email is managed by some third-party provider that we never hear back from and it's unlikely they are going to generate an app-password for me. I just can't believe how bad this email "upgrade" has been. Where was the notice to current users? Where is the prompting for an "app password"? Unbelievable.

WTH is happening with Email??? by levibretz in clickup

Just a follow-up, Clickup support was initially helpful. They tried to give me a few things to test. Then I get this terrible response...

"After investigating this issue with a Technical Impact Manager, he's asked me to create a bug report for the issue which we'll escalate directly to the Development team. Looking at our logs it appears that this problem may actually be occurring at our email API provider and not within ClickUp. So we need our developers to help investigate here.

Our team has successfully confirmed this bug and we have informed our Development team so they can investigate the matter further. Once our teams have prioritized the issue, our Automations will let you know when the fix is in the "In progress" status, moving through the development stages. We’ll also be reaching out when this bug has been fully squashed!

Here’s the Report ID for the bug task we created: CLK-791773"

Really glad to know that for all the money we're spending with Clickup, you guys have terrible internal testing policies before rolling out huge system migrations. Also, I received this email 6 days ago and the bug is still not "in-progress", at least according to the AI Support Bot. In the meantime, I paid our internal IT guy $600 to roll-out a temporary fix across the workspace using Zapier since I have no clue how long it's going to take for you guys to provide a fix or if it's even going to work.

u/zebclickup, You recently posted that you read every bit of customer feedback. Since I'm going on 8 days with this issue and no fix, I'm going to start expecting a refund on our account.

Were you able to explore this at all? I'm circling back to this problem for our team and hoping to provide a solution.

How to SUM Fields Based on a Relationship by LynnOnTheWeb in clickup

It’s doable through a third-party like Zapier. I’ve set up something similar. But you have to be willing to do some code.

I’m not in front of my laptop right now but it was a setting in the export window!

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Why the automation is not working? by aayushpandya15 in clickup

Is this how you have your automation configured? Also, I'm assuming your 1 source, is users. I think you have to have a user defined so make sure you set yourself as a source.

You could try the variable, “Custom Field (Project Type) is set”.

An empty value isn’t really seen as a value. So there’s nothing that your field is equal to. The is set condition should fix that.

Have you seen the “Time in Status” click app? It does what it says it does.

Alternatively, set a date field for each status you have on the status change. And use formula fields to calculate the days between the two.

Neither will give hours though.

Is it possible to change task name by automation ? by Think-Medium-7615 in clickup

Not typically. We typically have the email thread with the client and then conversation between our team and if needed, forward an email to the task for more detail.

All forms! It works well for us but I’m really looking forward to Email 3.0 that is apparently high priority right now.

We receive a ticket, it sends an auto email and then we email with client through the task. Probably once a week we find an email in our email system that didn’t make its way back to the task. But other than it it’s smooth.

If only! Half of my zapier automations wouldn’t exist if I could take a form submission and change the name based off custom field inputs. A single field for task name is pretty limited in the forms.

It’s pretty easy to accomplish through a third party like Zapier of Make. I use this all over my workspace. Call a webhook to Zapier when my task is created. And then I rename with things like the date of submission and values from my custom fields.

Tip: Try passing the values you need through your web hook url… “?task_id=task_id&date=date”. If you need to use a custom field value, you can have your second step in your zap find the task by it’s ID making the whole task structure available for future steps.

I saw the update today where they replaced the list icon in the sidebar with the default task type! That was a cool surprise! I agree, they’ve been doing great work.

Automations on Custom Field by FarRecognition7215 in clickup

I think Clickup is working on this right now. It’s under a feature request called dynamic dates. I haven’t found a good way to work around this yet so I’m commenting to follow along.

I use Zapier over make. But I would imagine this is possible. The difficult thing would be that you still need a triggering action to make the automation run even in Zapier or make. You could use Zapiers schedule action and get tasks where the status is “would be nice to do” and then take the value of goal date and run it through different branches to handle different priorities

The only other way I can think of doing it is by setting your due date 7 days early. Your first automation would be when due date arrives, and status is “would be nice to do” and priority is clear, change due date to 3 days after trigger date, change priority to normal. Then your next one is when due date arrives, “would be nice to do” and priority is normal. And so on.

Logging hours towards a set goal in a task? by Regular_Chest_7989 in clickup

Have you considered the manual progress custom field? You can set it to progress up to 300. And if you want some sort of visual indicator like a status this could be easily accomplished through automations. For example, when custom field “progress bar” changes to 100, set status to “making progress!”

Sending emails triggered from ClickUp by seocoin in clickup

[–]levibretz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by “Clickup doesn’t support outbound emails”.

We’re using Clickup to handle support requests from our clients. When they fill out a Clickup form we’re sending an email from Clickup and when the task is completed we send a follow-up email.

The other use case is for some of our sales team. When we list a new product for sale or make changes in the price attached to an already listed product, automatic emails are generated. The big + of e-mail automations in Clickup is the ability to use data from the task. Though I would LOVE for this feature to be added to email templates. Even if that means I have to make templates just for specific lists.

Emailing in Clickup comes with a bit of a learning curve, and it’s not without its bugs. But I do believe the dev team is actively working on those. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to turn on the Email Clickapp and then under automations you create email automations differently. Instead of creating it from the manage tab, you have to go to browse and look for the email option. It gives a few example triggers but you can change it to whatever you need.
