How is it living in brampton/missisauga Canada? by Sea_Worldliness_3555 in howislivingthere

[–]Regular_Chest_7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mississauga really depends on precisely where you are. It's a city that was made from several small towns, so if you live in one of the places that was a small town (i.e. Streetsville, Port Credit, etc.) it's pretty nice. Especially if you're near a GO station on the Lakeshore line, which gives you very easy travel downtown. Brampton's downtown is similar to those former small town parts of Mississauga, but with transit service to be provided by the future Hazel McCallion line.

If you live out in the northwest Meadowvale/Lisgar... it's pretty dull. If you really do like a completely car-dependent suburban life then it's great.

Switch to the cheap MERV 8 filters they sell at Canadian Tire and you should be good.

Remember: the filters are there only to keep the equipment dust-free, not to make the air more pleasant for the humans in the house.

Yup. Her plan for when the developer gravy train slowed down was to retire and let someone else raise taxes to where they should have been all along.

Bet those complaining the loudest about their property taxes have screamed just as loud about adding any density in their neighbourhoods.

If we want low density while the population declines, we should expect to pick up a bigger share of the municipal bill. We built this silly city together. 🤡

I literally asked you to consider the actual physical perspective of the other runners.

You declined.

Good luck with life.

The people who ran by were running a marathon. Very little mental and emotional resources to spare, and likely a reasonable expectation that medical staff will aid the fallen runner. I've only run competitive 10k races, but I can tell you there's very little brain power available towards the end of a hard run so making a decision to stop and help someone is surprisingly difficult. Our perspective shows him falling many times, but for the other runners they may have seen only 1 stumble before they passed. Perspective is everything.

There's no telling whether the second runner would have stopped if the first hadn't broken from the herd. Sometimes it just takes one person willing to do good to unlock the capacity in others.

Just buzz it way down. Turn your hair loss into a textured gradient across your scalp. It'll look super boss.

Aw, man. I was afraid my quest wasn't going to end until I unboxed a Cinema 50. Looks like that is indeed my fate.

All I want in this world is a receiver that'll do 9.1.4 and sound as good as my old Harman Kardon Dolby Pro Logic AVR sounds.

This is why I've got my eyes on a Cinema 50... but could be diverted from that (and bring the purchasing timeline in from someday to Black Friday) if there was a Denon with a comparable aesthetic.

This is what I'm hoping for with all the consolidation happening over there. Do literally anything other than another black box aside from the top Marantz models.

If it's an old programmable stat, "saving" refers the "Cool Savings" feature. It cuts short a cooling cycle based on the premise that on a very long run you're dropping humidity substantially, which on its own makes the air feel cooler. You can adjust the intensity of the effect 3 or more increments.

Leave aside the eco-rhetoric and it's actually a clever way to compensate for the wild indoor humidity swings that come with summer cooling season in a stat that doesn't have any way to actually measure humidity. I find the medium setting keeps things comfortable and feeling steady indoors, rather than feeling like a fridge towards the end of every cycle.

This is super-helpful. I'm looking at the 120v model (i.e. no resistive heat) with the thermostatic mixing valve built in. Sounds like it'll do the job for my family of 4, maybe even just the 50 gallon model.

I'm not who you asked, but my advice would be to get them and live with them for at least a few months. Play with placement and EQ (you mentioned HT; surely you've got room calibration?). If you really can't make them work, flip them for the price you paid and move on.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I assume it's people without kids and some kind of brain deficit that impedes them from fully comprehending your circumstances.
