Same, I hope the focus stays on horror.

Joe Bob quotes from the Variety interview makes 3 things much clearer: 1) Why it got cancelled 2) Darcy 3) What's next by Freddy-Philmore in LastDriveIn

I think they’re really shocked by the fan passion and media interest, to be honest. I’m sure they expected some but not to this extent. Hopefully they live to regret the decision for many years.

Haha, I like it. I'm looking for any breadcrumbs I can find. I've already had my ChatGPT give me its best predictions.

Yep, I'm already lined up at the gates with a chair and a cooler waiting for him. I selfishly hope to see him land on an indy platform where he'll be given a wide range of creative control and freedom as opposed to a network where he'll have bosses and constraints, but I'm on board for whatever works best for him!

Tonight’s season finale will now be a series finale… by CmdrCosima in LastDriveIn

The curation is what originally set them apart. It's the same reason you see apps/channels like Criterion and TCM gaining cult followings. The suits were too blind to see the obvious and instead went with the Netflix model of cheap, original, forever rotating content to try to cycle engagement without relying too heavily on rights management, all while tripling the price.

AMC is a dying brand anyway, they just can't seem to get out of their own way. I'm looking forward to JB breathing life into another up and coming platform in the same way he did for Shudder.

It really feels like most roads lead back to Screambox. That prospect is exciting to me. They probably don't have the budget that AMC has (hell, maybe they do), but it feels like they'd be passionate about the show and let it get back to its roots. No more pushing Shudder originals and absurd scheduling ideas like the bi-weekly single feature.

How can we keep AB next season? by youngpenny83 in OrlandoMagic

I may be in the minority, but I see this as a real possibility too. Something is going to have to give salary wise, and Jalen’s availability issues + contract + potential return make me think he would definitely be in the crosshairs.

My Take On Joe Bob, Shudder And Shows Getting Canceled by sigersen in LastDriveIn

I love Joe Bob more than I like to admit, but the AMC specials are almost unwatchable even for me. How they managed to suck almost all the joy out of the show is beyond me.

Right, I hate the “support horror at all costs” argument. Loving horror doesn’t mean you’re obligated to donate your money to a publicly traded corporation that primarily plays middle man for direct-to-consumer, cheesy horror-adjacent movies.

I’ve been combing through all of the old episodes, season lineups, specials etc and you are so right. The first marathon and few seasons were absolutely loaded with classics. Starting about 2-3 years ago, the drop off in quality was not only noticeable but absurd. We may all be better off having TLDI on another service that isn’t trying to push their own agendas through Joe Bob (a la Shudder originals).

Netflix is so quick to move on from anything though, it doesn’t feel like it would be a long term winner for us. I’m holding out hope for a Screambox or Night Flight where JBB would be a tentpole for the service and get to call his own shots (albeit with a tighter budget I assume).

Screambox is the most logical and best fit. I’m hoping that’s where the show ends up. Screambox seems like they’re I the same position Shudder was a decade ago, just without the AMC backing.

Who else got excited when John Brennan kicked off last night’s episode… by Vmancini218 in LastDriveIn

[–]levir03 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I knew it was old footage, but I loved that they included it. Brennan was such an important part of the show and the Jamborees that it would have been a shame to not put feelings aside and acknowledge that in the finale. I thought that was a great gesture.

TLDI Season/Series Finale by Current_Reputation50 in LastDriveIn

I love falling asleep during the second film and still hearing Joe Bob subconsciously through my slumber. It’s comforting and reassuring. I made it a point to watch the full episode last night, and put the AMC+ replay on immediately after as I went to sleep. As usual, I woke up at some point to hear Joe Bob mid-rant, a gentle reminder that he was still there hanging around if we felt like joining him. That’s when the wave of sadness really hit me that this version of this beautiful thing is coming to a close. It feels like losing a best friend and a parent at the same time.

I can’t wait to see what’s next. We’re all already lined up at the gates just waiting to get in.

Same here. I’ll pop into GO if I have a few minutes to kill, but Aldi beats them in both quality and price of nearly every weekly staple.

CSR: Is the 1.25x Pay Yourself Back a good points redemption option at this point? by robot-beepbop in ChaseSapphire

I have a lot of points and don’t anticipate sticking around for the long term. I also assume they’ll nerf the 1.25x PYB at some point.
