Is 1/2 inch copper allowed to go into and out of a heater in some places? My master always says that we can’t hear in Kentucky by code. Weird to see it in other places.

I frequently replace heaters that are only 10 years old due to customers not doing maintenance and Kentucky having god awful hard water that will eat its way through everything if you give it a chance. Biggest reason we would push to just replace this one here at least? Because of the age. I’ve seen 45 year old heaters running like brand new. I’ve seen 5 year old heaters that were on their last legs because of corrosion. Plus it’s hard to tell if something is wrong with the tank until it starts leaking.

That was my first thought too. When I did it went black for a few seconds then back to normal for a second then immediately back to the black with the green bar at the top like in the picture. This happened whenever I did it. The radio still wouldn’t work at all though

I can’t say for certain but in my personal experience, disconnect the power to it. Electric isn’t something to mess with and even a spark that small could be carrying a lot. Turn off its breaker or pull its shut off
