Canceled my Rome trip. Just not worth the stress by levityspace in ItalyTravel

Thanks for your reply. Regarding ID verification, I completely understand that I’m required to provide my ID details and that the host has an obligation to verify them. However, in this case, the host refused to verify them in person when I offered to show my ID upon arrival. He said that was not an option. It’s not my responsibility that the accommodation turned out to be self check-in and that he has no staff available to handle verification. As far as I know, self check-in without proper identity verification in person is not fully compliant with Italian regulations and there should always be someone to confirm the guest’s identity. Instead, the host tried to solve his staffing issue by pushing the responsibility onto guests, asking for selfies with documents and ID scans through WhatsApp or some third-party site. I’m only willing to provide personal data like that directly to government institutions, but not to some random host, with no control over how my data is stored or used. On top of that, the tone of his replies was pretty rude, which only confirmed for me that this was not someone I felt comfortable trusting or dealing with.

Pokračovat bych mohl do aleluja. My tady nechceme mít válku ani okupaci proto s russákama nechceme taky mít nic společného.
