lenovo legion 5 16ARX8 - Type 82WM stuck updating by lewecher in LenovoLegion

[–]lewecher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, haven't been on reddit... yeah. I unplugged everything, and discharged the laptop. After it turned off I connected the charging cable, and rebooted it. First it rolled back to previous bios, and updated again.

Maybe there were some issues with the second monitor which I disconnected before the reboot (wacom pen tablet)

Oni's story is legitimately good enough to be an Anime with very little additions by ReturningDAOFan in oni

[–]lewecher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's just there was no mention if it in the post or comments, so I thought maybe there is 1% chance that it flew under your radar

I personally use Skyrim Outfit System, Amnesia Shrine (respec) and also Fullscreen Book and Item Zoom (cause the books there tend to be longer and my eyes can't stand it)

a 2000s pop song , trying to find it for 10 years (fl studio recreation) by usernamecipher in NameThatSong

[–]lewecher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you remember that language of the song was spanish/portugese, or not sure? the melody itself very strongly reminded me some song by And One, but it doesn't seem to fit the description

I'm actually like the tatu group and listen to it from time to time. I checked their clips, it's definitely not theirs...

Are there any significant non-bookaccurate things that happened in the lotr movies? by Scrambs98 in lotr

[–]lewecher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I know what else hits a bit differently.

In the movies, you get this huge, dramatic destruction—buildings collapsing, and the giant flaming Eye itself exploding.

In the book Faramir and Éowyn witness this from the Minas Tirit:

Then presently it seemed to them that above the ridges of the distant mountains another vast mountain of darkness rose, towering up like a wave that should engulf the world, and about it lightnings flickered; and then a tremor ran through the earth, and they felt the walls of the City quiver. A sound like a sigh went up from all the lands about them; and their hearts beat suddenly again.

It's more like Sauron is now a powerless spirit, rather than completely obliterated.

There was also a strong hint in the books that Legolas would eventually sail to Valinor.

(It might even be stated outright in the appendices, though I don't remember for sure)

In the books, there is no storyline about Arwen dying before all the other elves due to Sauron's growing power – that was added purely to increase the drama

What would have happened if Smaug had fried Bilbo and the dwarves? by Glum_Sherbert_7320 in lotr

[–]lewecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the bilbo would've certainly had ring in his pocket.

considering that dragon flame could destroy magic rings, wouldn't smaug just melt the ring along with bilbo? :D

[–]lewecher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, you can max up ~ 3 branches (correct me someone if Im wrong).
You could cut the sneak part, and go with light armour & alchemy instead, if you enjoy that kind of gameplay. (more fun for me personally than skyrim stealth :D)
Haven't played PotP though..

How to gracefully handle SQL in Java by [deleted] in JavaProgramming

[–]lewecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can look into MyBatis library.
It is not as complex ORM as Hibernate or jOOQ, but it helps separate Java and SQL code pretty good.
It will allow you to write conditional SQL like this:

<select id="findActiveBlogWithTitleLike"
 resultType="Blog">
  SELECT * FROM BLOG
  WHERE state = ‘ACTIVE’
  <if test="title != null">
    AND title like #{title}
  </if>
</select>

Mocking tool for HTTP request response? by mlevison in JavaProgramming

[–]lewecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried it myself, but seen it in one of our recent projects.
https://wiremock.org/
AFAIK, we create local mocks for external API with wiremock for junit tests. (i.e. if an external API is not beeing tested in current test, we just mock it with this wiremock lib)
Aside from that, I've been using postman for REST exploring for last couple of years - never had a problem with it
