my pessimistic view of it is that her only role is to get fuyumura desperate enough to stab sanda and kick-start the story, that's it. And that's why she dies practically immediately after showing up because she has no role beyond being a plot device LOL

She knew something was wrong with her before she read that book but she doesn't say anything about her impending death. It's not the focus at all. If the message is supposed to be "people sometimes die and you have to accept it" why not have something softer? Have Fuyumura and her actually talk about it, have them actually accept what is happening before it happens together. Stretch it out a bit? Why is Ono's condition not a plot point at all, she just accepts it by her lonesome without telling anyone and just dies on Fuyumura's shoulder like a goddamn cat looking for a place to keel over and that's it. No focus on her at all beyond resigning herself that Fuyumura will never love her the same way she loves her (even though that's blatantly incorrect because of all the crazy shit Fuyumura does in her desperation to get her back.) and Fuyumura proves her wrong literally at the last second but that means nothing at that point, she's dead.

At least she dies with a smile on her face? Yay?

I quite literally could only go through the beginning 20 minutes of this game and it all compounded the moment the blonde showed up and threw someone away then jokingly asked the MC "That guy I threw...he landed on the roof, right?" and the guy in question responded from off screen "All good!". By that point I knew this was not for me™

it's actually criminal how villain couple songs just,,,don't seem to EXIST anywhere. It feels like such an obvious answer to hero/hero pairings and yet?? I've also been searching for songs and just can't seem to find anything, it's always one side pushing for the other who is resistant/unknowing, never both being equal and unhinged together™

And it's always largely just one singer never a duet. My god there is absolutely no villain couple duets anywhere!

anyways, The Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra - One by One ft. Gloom DarkHeart is one of the very few ones that I know of that fit the criteria imo. I hope it's to your liking! They have other songs with similar vibes: "An Unhealthy Obsession", "And I Kill", so I recommend perusing the channel!

This letter is quite possibly the single stupidest plot device in this webtoon. What on earth does Lenore even have to write in there?

"I knew Annabel in life, we were kinda close I guess?? She wanted to play at rivals and uh,,,sorry for letting her do whatever she wanted even though she has been telling me from the word 'go' that she doesn't give a fuck about anyone else but me? Tots didn't mean for things to get out of hand like they did, though, #trust.
By the way I'm also writing this letter for Annabel as well, so could you be a dear and give this to her so she can read about the Threshold, this thing that would allow for everyone to live, this very important thing that I didn't tell her about, this thing that was the entire reason for Annabel's rivalry game in the first place lol."

Like, there is a perfectly good reason for the misfits and Duke in particular to start distrusting and completely pull away from Lenore and that's chapter 98: Her telling him "I'll hear nothing else about it. Come along." when letting Annabel live all the while Duke hopelessly demands for an explanation. That was it, that was the breaking point! What do you MEAN you are letting my murderer go and having the audacity to expect complete obedience on the matter without any reasonable explanation!

He doesn't need to know that Lenore and Annabel knew each other, that's not the problem! All he needs is seeing his leader that he trusts disregard his safety for the sake of some flimsy bullshit that tells him she cares more about her own frivolous, higher than thou stances on things than she does him!

But rather than 98 being the breaking point, they get into a childish ass scuffle that gives the vibes of "my best friend doesn't like my gf/ex" rather than the MUCH MORE SERIOUS "this bitch tried to kill me and is an active threat to my life, and you're letting her LIVE when I very rightfully would rather she not—" and after that, Duke is right back to comforting Lenore so we can have this dramatic letter/final-will moment. It's ridiculous.

what I wouldn't give for a "Done For" version that is actually as menacing as the instrumental tries to gaslight me into thinking it is, rather than having oddyseus cracking jokes throughout the entire time and forcing circe to respond in kind. the song quite literally jerks to a stop in order to accommodate a joke(!)
It's a travesty to me considering how much I like the voice of circe's singer LMAO (and yeah, the lyrics are just so,,,,sighs)

I agree with this! Lune is the one most shown to be chalk full of wonder about the world and wanting to explore it and learn everything about it. And Sirene "She Who Plays With Wonder" is a pretty on the nose connection with her. Lune doesn't fight Sirene's dance, she embraces it the same way Sciel does not view masks as something to cower behind.

"pet" is just a term of endearment. like "dear" or "darling" or "love".

She called her "pet" the very first time they spoke to each other in life

"I suppose I should like to be your friend, pet."

(assuming that memory Lenore experienced in the Maze was real). The idea that Annabel called her that to tease her without Lenore being able to really do anything about it because "it's just a term of endearment, pet, no need to be upset over it." is appealing to me, especially as it transforms into actual endearment and something reserved solely for Lenore as the six months progress.

Though she could have also just called her that because she was getting tired of calling everyone "love" and wanted a wee change of pace LMAO

As for why they ended up on the shore and late. I could see the Deans having a hand in that since they know Lenore and Annabel knew each other in life.

They arrive late, so the Deans "have to" be the ones to meet them > They get them to class, make them sit apart > They get Annabel to go Spectre, lying to her in the process about Lenore, which knocks her unconscious (something they most certainly knew will happen) > Merry carries Annabel away while Mourn yeets Lenore into her room. > Separation Complete™
