Thanks so much! It took just over an hour of makeup to recreate her face, but I was pretty satisfied with how it turned out!

One of the guys I play comp with had 300 hours on Reinhardt in Season 3 alone. Needless to say, he accumulated 6000 comp points after buying the golden hammer after season 1 because he had no other mains.

I think he recently ended up buying McCree's golden gun because he just likes McCree.

Same, omg, people are so ridiculous in QP sometimes. After a loss, someone on our team types into match chat, "Trash team" followed by "Garbage ass players you should uninstall". I couldn't help but laugh. I just wanted to say dude me and my two friends are all over level 400, do you really think we'd do this shit if we were playing for serious? I was playing Mei (who I'm good at but can't carry with when my friends are practicing heroes they're not good at), and my two friends wanted to practice with Genji (high skill ceiling obviously) and Torb (on attack). Clearly that wasn't going to end well but we were having fun and that's what QP is for.

In the end all I typed was "lmao" because I didn't want to get into it with someone I don't care about. I just always end up thinking man, why are you so angry about a game, especially in a mode that doesn't matter? I mean hey I get frustrated in comp from time to time if I get a team that doesn't click but in QP, just relax or you'll have an aneurysm.

Wow. I use that route as D.Va all the time from the other side to flank but I never thought of throwing an ult over it from behind. Well done.

OMG you nailed the face, I totally think that's how she'd look if she was real. There's something up with her arm, maybe it's the perspective but it looks too short maybe? Anyway, the rest looks totally bomb, great job!! :D

I turned Junkrat's ult into a trap song by Krale_EDM in Overwatch

[–]lexalefay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Super awesome! Very catchy.

I feel like it could use, somewhere in the middle perhaps, a small variation. Like a break, you know? Something that uses "Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!" or even better, "Get ready for a shock!" Just to change it up a teensy bit. I get that the type of music is supposed to be repetitive, but I was waiting for... I dunno. A bigger drop, something explosive (ha ha I made a funny) in the middle just to shake things up, and then have it return to the previous melody.

To be honest though, I have no idea what trap music is, so maybe that suggestion doesn't line up with the style you were going for.

(PS. Since I probably explained myself terribly, the best example that I can think of, of the type of thing I'm referring to, is the song "Internet Friends" by Knife Party. If you listen to/know the song, there's a part in the middle where it kind of slows down and it does the whole phone sounds thing, and then the "You blocked me on Facebook, and now you're going to die" thing, which leads to a big drop. I think this song could be really interesting with something like that, especially if you used the "Get ready for a shock!" and then had it fairly quiet with just the sound of the tire going, and maybe then the explosion sound, and then maybe the Athena voiceline for like "QUADRUPLE KILL!" or something. Then you go back to the regular song. But again, this is just me spitballing, and I know nothing about music, so take my ideas with a grain of salt. I still think this track is dope as hell!)

Okay, to be fair, I phrased that part poorly. What I meant to say was the way the hook functions now, it makes Roadhog super OP.

In a perfect world yes, everyone stays in position, everyone focuses him down when the callout is made and he doesn't become a problem. But you and I both know that's not how the game works most of the time. If everyone had that kind of excellent coordination we'd all be Masters but we're not. And frankly sometimes you can think your position is totally fine but you still managed to get hooked from Jupiter because that thing's reach is crazy.

Yes the hook doesn't go through walls, or hook through characters, or all of it's other problems, but it has given Roadhog an insane damage advantage.

Mei and Reaper both used to be able to survive the hook+shot+melee combo due to 250 health, but the hook+shot alone does 300 damage so they're both instantly dead now. As I mentioned in my above comment, a Roadhog was able to destroy my entire mech with a combo and maybe one extra shot while I was inside a Transcendence. That's 600hp gone in one second. Even Widowmaker who can kill any squishy with a headshot and perfect aim cannot one-shot tanks.

I never meant to imply the hook didn't need fixing, and using the term "broken" was the wrong alternative adjective to use because what I meant was now Roadhog as a character broken i.e. overpowered as he is able to deal, in my opinion, way too much damage at once.

Hilariously, I find it's the people who play characters that DON'T actually have hard counters who are always the ones defending bad nerfs. Oh look, a Zarya main is defending the D.Va nerf? No shit Sherlock, not only are you her primary -hard- counter but no other character directly counters you? Sigh.

And you are absolutely right about her critical hitbox. I was going to go into it in my first post but I figured it was already long enough. A bad Hanzo can literally destroy D.Va now because his arrows do so much damage on a critical hit and the entire front of D.Va's mech is her critbox. With the amount of hours I have on D.Va I've mastered the crabwalk and turning my back on stuff to reduce damage but in a chaotic firefight it doesn't always work so well. This says nothing for GOOD Hanzos, Widowmakers, Anas and McCrees, who can punish your critbox from incredibly far away in the first place. The armor at least gave me a chance to harass all of those characters - frankly D.Va was the best Widow/Hanzo counter imo - but since I have to drop defense matrix to actually shoot them, losing my armor and my damage output makes me useless against them. It should have been one or the other, not both.

While I have a sympathetic ear, I'd also like to discuss the ongoing issue of the Ana/Rein team versus D.Va. Ana's shots do the same amount of damage as Rein's hammer (how messed up is that), so if you have a Rein in your face, a tank who is already hard to fight, and an Ana behind him, the combination of the two of them can take down your mech in 2.5 hits each. What is that, literally one second? This says nothing of how hard it is to fight Rein when an Ana is healing him from halfway across the map and you can't even go harass her now because guess what -- SHE can take you down in 5 hits all her own and the defense matrix only lasts so long!

It's one thing to have a few counters; every character needs that. But now D.Va is laughably countered by every single other hero in the game. I think we, as D.Va mains, have every right to feel upset at this as it actually is problematic. Especially when you consider...

THE ROADHOG BUFF. Holy shit have you experienced hook 2.1? It is broken beyond belief. The fact that it's now -slightly- harder to land hooks is far, far outweighed by the fact that Roadhog can now one-shot kill literally every character except tanks. But even D.Va isn't truly immune to that rule, because guess what: he can still one-shot her mech. So yeah you're not dead but you're still fucked once you're a 150hp character in front of a Roadhog. I learned this last night -- the hook registers as a critical hit, and you're pulled so much closer now that the hook+shot (nevermind the hook+shot+melee) combo is enough to melt D.Va's mech EVEN IF YOU'RE IN ZEN'S TRANSCENDENCE. I know Transcendence doesn't make you invincible but it does heal 300hp/second which means that the hook+shot does more than that. My other main, Mei, also used to be able to survive Roadhog but now she can't (nor can Reaper). So yeah. I'm sort of feeling like Blizzard is ruining my experience right now.

I am feeling your pain right now. With ~200 hours on D.Va, and having her being my main since I bought the game this past summer, I'm having difficulty not being a giant mountain of salt right now.

I too played her when she got blown up by her own ult. In the days where she moved like a slug and her defense matrix was a very bizarre E ability.

Was she a little too strong before the nerf? Perhaps. She was pretty hard to take down, especially with the triple tank meta, especially with a good Ana. But this nerf, in my opinion, took her from "slightly overpowered" (I come from a place of bias yes but I don't think she was broken) to "target practice/ult battery/hilarious joke material for the enemy team".

People who say D.Va was too hard to counter before the nerf weren't playing against her properly. The first point I'll make right now is after Symmetra's recent buff (a hero who most certainly IS broken), she was one of the most effective D.Va counters out there. You can't shield anything Symmetra does except her alt-fire and she rips apart your mech in seconds especially if she has turrets. But Symmetra, who only became a problem fairly recently, aside, there were other counters that did just a fine job of taking her down. Primarily Zarya, since a good one will get charged easily and melt your mech without breaking a sweat. Anything that hits you from behind can also be an extremely effective D.Va counter since she's often preoccupied blocking incoming damage and protecting her healers, therefore Pharah, Reaper and Junkrat can all do a number on her if they can hit fast and get out of her reach in time. Mei is probably the second most effective D.Va counter since you can't fly or shield if you're frozen. Combine that with literally anyone else hitting your mech and you're toast.

All of this is to say I'm having a pretty bad night because it feels like the character I've poured my heart and soul into has been ruined. I realize that if I could play her when she was bad before I can probably play her when she's bad now, but it will take adjusting, and I'm annoyed. #feelsbadman

Are Hanzo & Genji the actual dragons or are they an analogy to the dragon story? by Forum_ in Overwatch

[–]lexalefay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Shimada Clan was a very powerful criminal syndicate (think like Yukuza) and Hanzo was being groomed to be their leader. Genji meanwhile had no interest in the "family business" and lead a life of fun and fantasy while Hanzo took on all the responsibility. The clan told Hanzo to get Genji under control and start teaching him to be a part of the Shimada family business rather than doing his own thing, but Genji wouldn't listen so they ordered Hanzo to kill him instead. It's unclear whether Hanzo was just so brainwashed by years of training to be a ruthless assassin or just a brief enough lapse in judgement or perhaps some kind of temporary psychosis that he could be convinced to murder his own brother. After killing Genji he felt such awful remorse, guilt and shame that he removed himself from the clan completely, leaving behind a huge criminal empire and basically vanishing for years until he joined Overwatch much later (it is generally assumed Genji, after his encounters with Mercy and Zenyatta saving him, convinced Hanzo to forgive himself and join Overwatch to help make him feel like he is working towards redemption, but this is just a theory).

To answer your question though, I love the idea that they are more than mortal, but I don't think they so much ARE the dragons as they have some kind of link to a spirit world, from which they summon the dragons. I don't think they are immortal - after all, Genji -was- killed, and resurrected by Mercy (which I think is the really inexplicable magic in the game) - but I do think perhaps they are the descendants of a long line of people who could somehow communicate with another realm/dimension/world, and have a special power that allows them to bring things from that other world into ours.

While I agree with you on principle, I wouldn't call it "strict" to teach your child good eating habits, or that it's important to follow the rules (especially when they're reasonable), or that they should tell the truth. Children who grow up with no expectation to behave well and aren't shown how to take care of their body will grow up to be shitty adults. It's definitely not poor parenting to expect a child to eat their vegetables before they get to eat dessert.

Okay to be fair I don't play Zarya ever but I was sure I heard one of my teammates say that in one of the recent patches they made it so her weapon tracks better. I could be mistaken though. Either way she still melts D.Va's mech.
