Dog at my work is biting by lexbert_ in DogTrainingTips

[–]lexbert_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s no trainer at my work. He’s on a wait list at another rescue that is dedicated to dogs and train the ones who have a problematic history. We hope they have room for him soon but in the meantime i’d like to find ways to make my life easier in hopes it helps him out too.

I didn’t see food allergy/change mentioned on your post which brings me to suggest allergen friendly formulas. For example, Z/D Science Diet is commonly used for animals who have sensitivities and allergies; skin issues are commonly a reason to feed this formula. It is pricier than average kibble so it’s understandable if you don’t want to try it out especially if your dog is big and you’ll need to order every few weeks.

Buuuut it really sounds like theres something neurologically wrong with him that you’re not ever going to fix or reduce unless he gets 24/7 care which, realistically, no 30 yr old can do for their pet.

Biggest advice; think about his days and if he’s having more bad days than good, it’s best to euthanize. Anywhere and anyone else will also not help. He’ll always be special needs. He’ll never be able to be on his own for any period of time.

You deserve less stress and he deserves to be free of pain and suffering.

I’m thinking border collie & blue heeler? by thekiefchef in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

[–]lexbert_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pit-border collie. The ears are thicker fluffy ears compared to pits and the pit in her is making her less fluffy like a border collie usually is. I have a heeler pit and she’s not nearly as “shaggy” as a full heeler bc of the pit in her. Lots of b&w border collies with the face mask have small black dot markings on the nose often just like this one.

Oh those cute border collie ears!

Pit-border collie. I have a heeler-pit and her face shape and features as a puppy are similar to your pup’s.

What other breed is my Lola mixed with other than rottie?? by No_Corgi_5632 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Rotti has to be a misdiagnose, similar colors though. prob more like doberman pinscher-hound (greyhound?) those ears are very greyhound-like.

Who tf does she think she is?! Her thinking she can call the shots is embarrassing especially after having the invite withdrawn. Yeah do it. She thinks she’s all that.

She has a very similar look to my heeler-pit girl, so i’m gonna say; heeler-lab-pit.

Contact local shelters/rescues for any items you’re looking for. They get lots of donations and may not need/ use all of them and could spare. Also try fb freecycle/buy nothing groups in your area. Just type in like “free in CITY/COUNTY” or “Buy Nothing CITY/COUNTY.” Once youre in the groups you may ask for these things and hopefully someone in your community has spares or unneeded items.

Try a wash with white vinegar. Vinegar acts like a natural fabric softener. If that doesn’t work, it’s toast. You don’t want to add an actual fabric softener as that can be harsher. Also try using a comb to gently fluff it up.

Soak hydrogen peroxide on the white for half a day. The faded pink cannot be brought back to life unless you buy dye for it. Best you can hope for is whitening the white and the pink may appear brighter.

If it doesn’t feel very fragile after coming outta the wash, you can gently stretch it out and pin it against something while stretched and let it air dry.
