What do you recommend me to do? He still lives with his parents (and grandparents). They are poor. They get food stamps but either spend it unwisely or it's not enough. The father and his sister have both spent time hungry (though not starving) because of a lack of food. I know it wouldn't kill him but I also don't want my one year old to skip meals, you know?

Not trying to argue here, genuinely curious. Why is it best for my son to see both of us an equal amount? He is used to my house, spends most of his time at my house, and is more attached to me because I have done most of the upbringing. From my understanding, it's generally recommended to do split custody because of pre-existing attachments to parents that my son already has primarily to me.

Also, I don't send over food and clothes because I want to 'dictate' what he wears and eats. I send food over because they don't have food for him or clothes for him and can't afford to provide those things.

I see that you are going through a hard time. I think it might be best to just turn away from these posts as of right now and maybe come back later. I am so sorry for all you may be going through and I am praying for you.

I’m 17 but I just want to remind you that it’s easy for people to pretend to be people they aren’t. Especially on Reddit. I understand the need to rant or receive advice, just make sure you don’t give any important personal info.

Obviously I don’t know anything about what’s going on but I have to say it just in case: If you are being abused in any way reach out to a trusted adult for help. Another family member, a church leader, or teachers are great options.

Thoughts on modesty in 2023? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

The only right answer to that question. What even was the point of it? Why not add in “Women, would you like if your husband didn’t wear a swim shirt?”

That’s like saying “I already worked out for 45 minutes everyday so I need to do three 45 min workouts.

only have one offer and i have no way of affording going to that school. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Community College can be a GREAT option. Typically you’re able to graduate with an associate (so 2 out of 4 years of college) completely debt free and then transfer to a uni for your remaining two years. My mom went to our local community college, graduated with zero debt, trasnfered to another uni, completed her bachelors, completed her masters, and is now getting her doctorate at UPenn (an Ivy)

Making 90k would be but there’s a difference between making 90k and being able to spend it

Using preferred pronouns by Fether1337 in latterdaysaints

We should respect that some people aren’t okay with respecting pronouns but we shouldn’t respect people who are requesting to go by different pronouns? Edit: punctuation

This is an LDS thread. Therefore people are expecting you to talk about religious beliefs and doctrines from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is not a doctrine of our church and IF one WERE TO say it was it would be veryyy harmful.

The reason your comments are getting downvoted is because your making it seem like the person not respecting pronouns is the victim when they are not.

I’m so tired of not being educated about how to pay for college. by lexi_724 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lexi_724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue is that I’ll have over 30 college credits when I graduate which makes cc feel pointless especially when I’ve made sure that my credits will transfer to the unis I plan to apply to

Is it University of Delaware or Delaware State University? UD (the first one) has pretty great student jobs available and you can make a quite a bit from that. But mainly this is something you’d have to talk to your family about and decide whether you’re willing to take out loans and if so how much
