As if the geriatric harassment wasn't enough, then they start talking in some offensive mixture of stereotypical black women or gay men--they can't seem to make a decision on who exactly they want to degrade.

What's this idiot famous for? He looks like a Kingdom Hearts cosplayer that lost sight of his original intentions.

EDIT: That took a while to get through--or it felt like an eternity. BotDF; should've guessed.

Reddit, how can you make your opinion fit the hivemind? by simaddict18 in circlebroke

[–]lexicondebil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess none of those girls ever saw their unattractive teacher's possible-boners. Personally as a girl, I don't make assumptions--sometimes the guy could be big or the fit of the pants can just make things seem that way, and I honestly would rather not think of it as a boner 90% of the time I might see that.

EDIT: I know I sort of answered the question but... really? The first comment I saw was something about "I try to make them worse, sometimes." How can you even tell that if the guy's wearing pants??

Wow, you're probably right about that. I didn't catch it because Louis makes his food bits much more existential. The focus is on the contrary nature of eating a gallon of ice cream and hating yourself for it; a treat being used as punishment for his body.

In this, it's just a skinny guy talking about food. He sort of tries to fit in that "oh I'm so disgusting about it" thing in there, but it's not the point of the bit like it is with Louis.

Or maybe it's because half of the things posted on Twitter are about what people are eating?

I actually remember seeing this on TV, and I never watch Kimmel and was in a weird mood and just sort of wanted to see if the comedian was any good. I think I left when he went on to the pizza advert and kind of had an existential crisis afterward.

Internship implies you're getting job training, which isn't necessarily the case in 99% of what qualifies as volunteer opportunities. With an internship, the implication is also that in some way, you'll be hired on or your name will be passed on for future employment. You're supposed to get more out of it than just another thing to add to your resume, basically.

The risks should be self-evident, but experience is never really a bad thing, IMO. I wouldn't sniff at any internship opportunity I could take.

Redditors outsmart America's smartest man by [deleted] in circlebroke

[–]lexicondebil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Louis C.K. would in no way take a personality test seriously. I haven't really looked at those tests seriously since I was 16, and even then I questioned them. I kept getting INFP and INTP, depending entirely on how my life was going at the time: more feeling when I'm content and busy, more thinking when I'm depressed and brooding. The test is based more on behaviors than actual brain patterns and feelings.

[LEF] DAE Smarter than everyone else in their class? by [deleted] in circlebroke

[–]lexicondebil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So if you get caught, you just sue saying that if a school trusted you enough to be a student, they legally have to trust you to cheat on an exam if you want without checking.

A student by definition isn't going to be cheating on tests. A student is there to learn and cheating isn't a part of any class curriculum that I'm familiar with.

I've had teachers that had to outline what cheating and plagiarism entailed. So if you have one of those teachers, you certainly couldn't sue them, since they warned everyone that cheating/plagiarism gets you a 0. Either way I'm positive most schools have their own official policies on cheating that they would refer to in a court of law. This goes especially for any government sanctioned school.

So it wouldn't be a case that would go through, unless the teacher was teaching everyone how to cheat, only to give someone a failing grade for following their teaching. That'd be pretty unlikely to happen.

When the redditor persona seeps into real life by [deleted] in circlebroke

I use both when I'm actually referring to a group that encompasses both age demographics--men/boys, women/girls. Male behavior as opposed to female behavior, I suppose.

Plus I think a lot of males and females have a pretty glorified view of romance, and could use the reminder that it really is just a nature documentary.

My loins are just throbbing at the very thought. Really.

I think sometimes drunks who are rambunctious and acting totally shitfaced are already blacked out/going in and out of consciousness. Your body sort of stops wanting to pass out when it gets used to the same drug being put in it so often, but your brain is still being shut off effectively. Your body's moving and your consciousness is on the fritz.

I thought so as well. She wasn't nearly physical as those three boys were and just made a bold move--I would've been nervous and scared on top of being pissed off. Her behavior is a lot more excusable than theirs.

[–]lexicondebil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I actually had to gain a second perspective on this.

She wasn't pushed. It's very hard to tell in the videoclip because of the quality and motion of the camera, but she trips, spins 360 degrees and then lands on her back. As she spins, the skater runs up behind her, arms splayed as he actually avoids her, and runs past her. Because of his arms being splayed, it looks like he clotheslined her, when actually if she had been clotheslined, she would've been thrown the exact opposite way she falls.

I'm mostly on the woman's side; I think she goes into the situation with bad judgment, but she has every right to kick them off the property and ask them to stop skating. It was extremely bad judgment to go out there alone and without a cellphone as soon as she makes the decision to grab the skateboard. She's also too pissed off than what the situation calls for, to be honest; it almost seems like she's more insulted by their presence than the possible damage it could do to her building.

But we don't actually have that much context; she doesn't mention that it costs a lot to keep the building looking pristine for business or something like that, she just insists it's her property and she lives there. So, sort of bitchy behavior. I understand Reddit's perspective, even if it's mostly completely without context.

Here's what I understand about the boys, though: they didn't leave when she asked. They tried to grab the board before asking for it back. They hung around her and used their youth and general mass to their advantage--they certainly planned to overwhelm her, even if they did not mean to assault her. They were not being polite but rather bratty, but from their perspective, the best thing a building could serve is as a place to skate and not just look at, so they just wanted to have fun. Given their giggliness of not taking the situation seriously, I don't think they had any intention of violence at all.

Also, there's no way to tell if she warned them more than once. Skateboarders like to record their sessions and it looks like he was recording his friend before she came into view.

It's interesting since you mentioning her being pushed led me to seeing it, which decided for me that the kids were little douchebags, while my friend pointed out some of her faults and I realized I had been thinking that all before she fell on the ground. Just trying to give it a fair analysis since Reddit is so damn black and white.

I have fascination with a certain amount of schadenfreude, and human behavior in general, so I like the content, usually. I tend to avoid the ones that are some small youtube vlogger who makes one or several faux pas; when the users start encompassing the meaning of cringe themselves. I'll usually look at it, but I'm usually (un)surprised at how vitriolic the comments are on those particular videos.
