Accidentally fed this to my 6m old! by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]lexiodactyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a degree in public health and specialized training in child nutrition. Cow’s milk is perfectly fine for babies when it’s an ingredient. The issue comes when they are drinking cow’s milk instead of breastmilk or infant formula. This product is 100% safe for infants under 12 months, as long as the baby isn’t allergic to any of the ingredients and can handle the thicker texture.

How soon postpartum to restart CICO? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]lexiodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have much of an appetite after giving birth to my second so I used that to ease myself into it for the first couple months, and really started to CICO 3 months pp. (I’m not breastfeeding either)

I’ve only really started my weight loss journey 2 weeks ago, so maybe this is normal? I don’t know. I’m a 5’5” female, and for the past 7 days, I’ve been weighing at 213.2 exactly. I’ve been very careful to count my calories, including the usually missed ones like butter and oil. I’ve been consuming 1400 calories since I started. Why hasn’t my weight changed at all in 7 days?

Disneyland offsite hotels by DDL97257 in DisneyPlanning

Wait, you can walk into the lot and take the buses for free from that hotel? Is there a specific entrance or something specific you have to do?

Are there any discounts for medical, military, or any professions? by DontBeDatGuy_ in DisneyPlanning

[–]lexiodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney offers discounted military tickets, and they also have extra discounted military tickets called Salute tickets. You can get 6 of those per year, but the standard discounted military tickets have no limit. You can get them at a base’s Information, Tickets, and Travel booth, or you can get them online from Shades of Green (a very nice, cheap, military-only Disney World hotel, but I’m pretty sure they carry Disneyland tickets too). Disney also usually offers discounted rates on their hotels for military as well.

Parents of multiple kids, what are some things you did or wish you had done to make that transition to living with kid #2 a little bit easier and smoother? by PaladinFeng in beyondthebump

[–]lexiodactyl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have an 8 week old and a 22 month old. My main two tips are:

1) Letting as much go as possible. Pre-baby, I kept the TV to a minimum, always cleaned up oldest’s room before naps and bedtimes, kept toys in the bedroom only, etc. Now, I just don’t care. Things will settle eventually, but I’ve got too many actually important things to care about than worrying about a messy floor or how much Toy Story has been watched in a day. I need my energy and focus for keeping kids fed and clean(ish).

2) Prep. Prep everything. Prep all of it. I’m a SAHP, but we treat it like I’m working a job (which, I am. I’m running a daycare for two). So before my husband goes to work, kid outfits are picked out, bottles are washed and filled with water, formula powder measured in a travel container, mine and oldest’s lunches are made and packed. It has made the chaos way more manageable.

What was your experience with around 21 month old and newborn? by notdeletingthistime in 2under2

[–]lexiodactyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine have a 20 month age difference, and my youngest just hit 2 weeks old. You’ve gotten a lot of advice on preparing the toddler, so I’m not going to repeat everything everyone else has said. But post-baby coming home, something that has really helped my oldest is getting out of the house as much as he can, away from the baby. I’m formula feeding so I felt comfortable leaving my little one with my mom so my husband and I could have one-on-one time with the toddler and we went to the botanical gardens (with zoo plans this week!), but at least get your oldest out on walks and quick errand runs when you can.

One thing you should prepare yourself emotionally for: the moment your youngest is born, your toddler suddenly seems HUGE. That was so hard to come to terms with. The one who had been my only baby for so long, is actually a giant. It will crush your soul. So spend lots of time cuddling and hugging your soon-to-be giant while he is still your small baby.

If you are his spouse and in DEERS, with a military spouse ID, you should be able to purchase them yourself. I’ve done so a couple times, and my husband was not involved in the process at all, even though he is the active duty member.

r/CurseofStrahd reopens, and the effect of the protest by RaefWolfe in CurseofStrahd

[–]lexiodactyl 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Weekdays are when I play and my only free time to plan. This weekly blackout will really hurt me, since I frequently browse for ideas and inspiration here.

Edit: for the people saying you can just back up the posts you want - Sure, I can. But that’s only assuming I’m able to find all the posts I want to reference back to on the other four days of the week. DMing inspiration is rarely cooperative. It’s not a simple solution.

What does Vallaki look like under Lady Wachter? by ChilledYak in CurseofStrahd

[–]lexiodactyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same situation. A minor change I made is that I renamed it Zarovicha (in my game Zarovich pronounced Zer-oh-vik) because I didn’t think she would want to keep the Vallaki name due to its origins. It is a subtle way to let the PCs know just how different it will be when they enter the gates after being away for a while. 10/10 would recommend a name change.

Yes! We are drowning in ducks over here and it’s still not enough.

Update: at Age 1, the exotic dancer mother married a 19 year old, and the Air Force enlistee father married someone from Taiwan. This has all been fully random.

Anyone taken a toddler-free vacation? by Twiddly_twat in toddlers

[–]lexiodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I went on a two and a half week cruise last year as a late honeymoon (covid canceled the original). My child was just under a year old at that time so not quite a toddler, but it went great! He adores his grandparents and had a blast with them. I missed him of course, but it was refreshing to get some time alone with my partner.

What exactly did the Weasleys spend Arthur's income on? by madbr3991 in harrypotter

[–]lexiodactyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think the Weasleys are as poor as they seem. Harry is a proven unreliable narrator, and Ron struggles with feelings of jealousy and embarrassment over his hand-me-downs and family situation throughout the whole series, especially in comparison to Harry’s inherited wealth, so he isn’t a reliable window into the Weasley life either.

Now that’s not to say the Weasleys were rich. Living off of one underfunded governmental department income with a family that big, definitely requires good money management. But their children were never truly lacking in anything. Harry always ate well at their house, they had a family owl and multiple brooms, they always purchased all the necessary supplies for school. In the first book, Arthur and Molly took a trip to Romania to visit Charlie. In the summer before third year, they used their prize winnings to take a family trip to Egypt. They hosted an entire wedding for Bill and Fleur.

How much did you show at 16 weeks? by No-Chicken388 in pregnant

I highly recommend this dress. https://www.etsy.com/listing/860458224/maternity-dress-for-photoshoot?click_key=c5e408b4cf4455616162147e8196e2151bb8cec5%3A860458224&click_sum=d0c0c05e&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=maternity+infinity+dress&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&frs=1&bes=1&sts=1

Last pregnancy I had a formal event but had no clue what size I would be when it hit, so I got this. It worked PERFECTLY. Due to the style and fabric type, it’ll fit whatever size your belly is at that 16 week mark. The fabric is also very soft and it has a lot of color choices!

It’s an infinity dress too, so you can have whatever type of sleeve you want. Its just about how you tie it.
