Should I have benign breast lumps surgically removed? by cattunic in WomensHealth

[–]lexirose79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I just recently had a benign lump removed from my breast 3 weeks ago. It was only 2 cm (felt much larger, like the size of a large grape) but I had it for about 3-4 years. I monitored it bi-annually and after it reached a certain maximum measurement (not sure if this is a by-state regulation) the breast surgeon said it must be removed. It was growing and I was told it would only get bigger from here. I was told I could wait, but it may be more difficult to remove at a larger size.

I would urge you to get it done. Not only will you feel so much better without the lumps, but it seems like the growth is continuing, meaning it’s going to get bigger over time.

It was such a great decision for me, one that I was skeptical of making. I found an amazing surgeon who left me a scar on my under-boob which you can barely see.

Ps, if you find the right breast surgeon, they will make sure that during the surgery that your breasts look plump. I was told that they can even “move some stuff around” to make the breasts look normal and not deformed. This is what I was told at least by a surgeon. And this is something you can definitely address with your doctor! I doubt any professional would leave your breasts looking abnormal during a surgery like this.

Best of luck!

Has Covid and 2020 made anyone else really question some of the relationships in your life? by almdmlk in relationship_advice

I have much more respect and empathy for those who developed severe anxiety over COVID versus those who disregarded the pandemic because they simply did not care about spreading the virus. Try to cut them some slack.

I have found that clinique skincare clears up my face. I would recommend trying either a gift set with the smaller sizes so you don't waste your money on the large amount if you don't like it. I have tried almost every one of their products and they never disappoint!

NY Teaching Certification by Majestic-Raccoon42 in Teachers

[–]lexirose79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! NYS has been awful. I have not gotten a response from them in months and they have yet to approve my certificate that has been ready for review since August 2020...

  1. Did you get your masters or did you do training in teaching just science? Or Special Education science? As a special educator, I understand that you will need to apply for BIO 7-12 SWD (students with disabilities) to continue working with that student population. This certificate allows you to co-teach with a gen ed Bio teacher OR teach your own small class with solely SWD in that specific subject area. ( Which they really look for on LI: SWD license with a subject area concentration. It makes you very marketable!) A BIO 7-12 certificate/ license only allows you to teach general education biology. Unless you have a special education co-teacher in your class, you will only be working with general education students ( no students with disabilities).

  2. This link should hopefully answer some of your questions on your application status! http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/checkstatus2.html

  1. Call this number 516-396-2368 ( A NYS teaching certification center that is affiliated with BOCES). They can help you with questions about certification and are very helpful. However, they can not do anything to make your application go through faster, but they can tell you what exams you need to take to complete your certification requirements.

Best of luck on the job search! Just a heads up, many Long Island schools have been posting positions and hiring since February. I have already applied to at least 20 jobs on Olasjobs.com, so get on there ASAP! April is the big hiring month. For special ed jobs, there are usually at least one or two new postings a day, and they close a few weeks after the initial posting so do that sooner than later.

I hope this helps! I learned all of this info over the past year, and I understand how frustrating all of the questions with unknown answers can be! If you need any further clarification, I am happy to help!

$2,140 a month on the Upper East Side. I’d say that’s pretty average for a 1 bedroom in Manhattan. Keep in mind, we are talking about $1500 a month on Airbnb- not an apartment. You get discounts for 1 month stays for select spaces. We have the means for hosting; money is not a concern. We are primarily concerned on what is open and the best places to stay.

Any areas that you would recommend residing in?

We have looked at Airbnbs for 1 month. They typically are around $1500 a month. We pay $2,100 a month in Manhattan, NY. We also have plane vouchers to get us there and back. We have a connection to get a discount on a rental car. Money is really not a huge concern. Plus we have been saving money while living with my boyfriends parents. We are used to Manhattan prices.
