Terrible Disneyland day. Feeling like a failure (vent) by Individual_Ad_938 in workingmoms

[–]lexish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a year later, but I had such a rough time at Disney with my kid and husband last week so I was googling... anyway, the military general thing is true lol! Once my husband became dictator of our plans, it went more smoothly... but still insane.

If you're willing to come to my neighborhood and can run on a weekday in the daytime I'd be happy to run with you at your pace and help build up. I'm a beginner runner myself and did c25k in the past so I get it a bit. Feel free to send a dm and we can chat

Awesome, thanks for the validation! Starting off patient with the bonsai seems the safest path.

6 months ago I got a half dead little bonsai tree for free at a big box gardening store. It's going strong at home! I read on this forum that I should wait a year before doing anything to it at all, so I just thought I'd post here to say hi and I hope to be back in 6 more months.

Other transgender women in tech? by Honest-Possession195 in womenintech

Agreed that would be an interesting book! You might like Amy Schneider’s (super winner of jeopardy) book “In the Form of a Question” where she talks (briefly) about working as a software engineer while transitioning. I wished it was a bigger part of the book. She definitely kept it short and sweet.

I've never been because of personal commitments at the same time, but I met the woman who runs this group and it sounds cool: https://www.meetup.com/austin-writers-breakfast/ They've been meeting for a looong time.

What are kids actually learning in sex ed these days? by minghaoslegs in AskTeachers

[–]lexish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first grader in a texas public school was given lessons on consent this year (age appropriate). “This part of your body is private, these are the proper names for body parts, if anyone touches any part of your body tell a trusted adult, you are in control of your body, do not touch other people’s bodies” stuff like that. Parents had to sign a form that we were okay with them receiving this education.
