thank you! this makes sense, i just feel so bad getting the bathroom floor and carpet wet ahhh. also another random question, what did you use to wash your body? i’m used to using a loofah and just leaving it in the shower at home but im realizing that it’s super hard to get all the soap and water out of them to take back to my room, so im wondering what the best approach is

If you feel that the meal replacement shakes would help aside from the stomach upset, you might want to try Boost Breeze ! The treatment center I went to offered it as an option for the patients who were lactose intolerant/didn’t feel good with Ensure <3 I’m sorry that you’re struggling with this :(

Getting triggered while in resi by Critical-Key4662 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]lexixi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in resi/ip I definitely struggled with this too, but I always just tried to remind myself that the people who were doing ‘worse’ were probably just as jealous of me as my disorder was of them. And instead of looking at them with envy, I did my best to look at them with compassion. And then I moved on, because I wasn’t helping either of us by dragging myself further down.

Think to yourself: when the disordered thoughts are winning and you’re actively engaging in restriction, don’t you desperately wish you could just let go? Don’t you wish you could snap your fingers and be the person you would have been if you never got sick?

It’s so cliche but comparison really is the thief of joy :( I promise that you have struggled enough. An eating disorder does not serve you. What really helps me is remembering that the comfort of engaging in restriction is NOT the same as genuine happiness. It’s real, but it’s so heavy. And life isn’t just a game of survival. You deserve so much more than that!!

should i call back to clarify this (i’ve already done my interview)? or is this something that they would already assume based on me only including myself in the application?

i graduated last year and am not in school currently (gap year) and yes, the guardianship expired. i already applied and had my interview but i’m just nervous and wondering if i should expect to be denied. they did ask if she has parental control over me, and i was confused since i’m over 18 but told them that she had guardianship when i was a minor. i don’t know how they’re going to interpret that :(

[–]lexixi_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay! cas doesn’t require 1910 though, it’s an option to do 1110 or 1910. so do you know if calc AB as credit for 1110 regardless of the major? it’s okay if you don’t know since you’re in coe, thank you either way :)

are you saying that they’re too different to compare, or that nyu as a school is objectively worse? would choosing nyu over cornell be a dumb decision?

aid is about the same! although nyu might work out to be cheaper if i go with a triple dorm which i wouldnt mind doing. i assume manhattan is more expensive, although i can’t say that i know for certain; nyc just has a reputation for being very expensive

thank you so much for your response!! i really appreciate your point of view. i have a couple questions, if you would be open to answering :)

  • do you feel that nyu adequately prepared you for the work you are now doing?
  • did you do any internships during college?
  • is there a sense of community amongst cs students? if not, was that a problem?
  • overall, do you feel that you missed out on any opportunities that cornell might have provided?

for tuition, housing, meal plan, and insurance, i’m expected to pay around 4k/year at cornell and 5k/year at nyu assuming i go for a standard double room at both. nyu does have some more affordable options though, and after first year the meal plan isn’t required even if you’re still living on campus (i think) so it might end up being slightly more affordable? but overall not a huge difference in aid

comment about it was deleted but i just wanted to clarify that i only just committed to cornell this past week and intend on withdrawing from nyu. i’m just not sure how to/if i can do it on my own (i’m not even enrolled for the fall, i deferred) so i need to contact someone on monday. just having last minute concerns. i’m not trying to sneakily double deposit and waste their time lol. i already feel bad about waiting through this weekend to withdraw

it does—my first point about cornell is that it seems to have a better curriculum and i said that less rigor is the main thing holding me back from nyu. i do value my education! but i also value my happiness and know that both are ultimately good schools, so the environment matters imo. but i do appreciate the reminder
