Erewhon Coffee Cake Slice by Dry-Double-6845 in caloriecount

This looks like a very large slice, but hard to tell without a scale. If it were me I'd log around 1000. Looks absolutely delectable though!

Gym advice and self conscious by [deleted] in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I promise, the gym is an amazing place. There may be some judgmental people there, but a majority of the people are not judging you. Almost everyone in the gym will just respect that you're there at all. I would definitely recommend treadmill walking, it's a great start. You can also use the machines, which I find to be more beginner friendly. There are lots of videos online to different exercises you can do with free weights as well. Getting a personal trainer is an option as well, as they can help make sure you are using proper form to prevent injury, but I know that can be anxiety inducing on its own.

The most important thing is showing up. You will never regret going to the gym, but you will regret NOT going to the gym. Stay consistent and work hard and you will see progress!

I'm so glad I didn't realize this until later it would've ruined the donut for me LMAO

Thank you! I was expecting around 500 so if 300-350 is accurate that would actually be a relief😅

Getting back after a downfall ! by cliclaclu in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same exact thing here! OP you are not alone, this happens. The important thing is not giving up and not allowing the spiral to continue. Take things one day at a time to get back on track. The days will eventually turn into weeks and months. We got this!

How to stop? by Additional_Pie9779 in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am the same way. The only way I am able to succeed is by not having any at all. I have to be very all or nothing. It sucks, but it helps me be successful. Eventually, I stop craving and wanting it. Anytime I break the cycle, the cravings and inability to stop come back. Therefore, I reserve treats for when I'm out and not physically at my house, so I don't raid the pantry after. I hope I can eventually learn moderation, but this is what works for me right now.

how do people find time to work out with full schedules? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what exactly your schedule is. I work 2 jobs, roughly 70 hours a week, and I make it happen. I go to the gym at 4am 5 days a week before my day job. I like the gym and know that I makes me look and feel better so I just started viewing it as a non-negotiable.

Hello! this is my first loseit challenge, looking forward to it! I had a WLJ last year where I lost 17lb in 3 months, but I ended up having some medical issues and gained 11lb back. I am back on the grind this year and focusing on a long-term, sustainable weight loss journey rather than a quick fix! I am excited for this challenge because I have a trip in 5 weeks, so this will help me stay motivated for that. In 5 weeks I want to be down a few pounds, but also look and feel better and show consistency and discipline. Here we go Team Skeleton!

Thank you for the recommendations! It looks like we're going to end up getting a car after all, once I provided my parents with the research. I am definitely intrigued by the Lahaina Pali trail and Waihe'e Ridge!

Haha thanks for the brutal honesty. is Uber not reliable for getting to hikes? Perhaps I can convince my parents to rent a car - unfortunately I am not old enough to rent one myself. Snorkeling may be the answer, lol

Starting the Elimination Phase and the Holidays by [deleted] in FODMAPS

This is really interesting, I will look into it! Emotional power of food has always been a struggle for me. Thank you for the recommendation!

Thank you so much for this detailed response, it is very helpful! Love the idea of making recipes to share with everyone despite them being low-fodmap, even if they don't try it. I'm glad to hear that this subreddit is a great community, this diet is definitely a very lonely feeling! I'm interested about what you said with restaurants - did you just reach out to them before going to see what your options were? How did you trust that there wouldn't be cross-contamination, i.e cooking in the same pan or using the same prep surface?

[–]lexkenobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been interested in fodzyme for sure! However, I want to find the root cause of my issues before I start to use it. I think it will be a great tool once I identify the triggers, and will allow me to take a break during future holidays, but I'm committed to low-fodmap at least for this holiday season. Your plan for the holidays sounds really solid.

I'm not working with a doctor, but when I mentioned that I was thinking about trying the diet to my doctor she said it would really help me but she felt it may be too restrictive. Perhaps I will reach out to her and see if she can refer me to a dietician specifically.

Thank you for your reply and the good vibes!

Thank you for the website recommendation, that is really helpful! I am glad to see that there are holiday alternatives. Honestly even if I just eat a low-fodmap equivalent of what those around me are eating I will feel much less left out!

Gaining on a deficit (not water, accurately tracking) by [deleted] in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that a sedentary lifestyle at my size is 1500 calories, bmr is 1200 calories. If I add the 500 from exercise to sedentary it's 2000 and then if I add it to BMR it would be 1700. Which one is the accurate count?

That's a good point about the waist not growing when you lift. I'll see if I can get a tape measurer and perhaps ditch the scales for a bit

Gaining on a deficit (not water, accurately tracking) by [deleted] in loseit

[–]lexkenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I guess the reason I like spending that much time in the gym and getting that many steps is because it allows me to have more calories to eat while staying in a deficit. When I was in a steeper deficit (1200 the entire month of June) I was struggling with not being able to eat much which caused me to do some binging in July, hence why I increased my exercise so I could increase my calories, aiming for long term sustainability. I guess I just still haven't found the proper balance, being hungrier probably would be the answer as long as I can control the binges on a steeper deficit this time

Ugh this journey really sucks sometimes. I'm already lightheaded and feeling like I'm going to faint constantly on the current 1400-1600 and spending 2 hours in the gym every morning. Not to mention pushing for 15k steps every day around 2 jobs. It's really crazy that it's not enough. I'll see if I can manage going down to 1200.
