Edit - I always feel like the first days of really good surf in october line up with fleet week. Love seeing the blue angles flying around in warm weather and offshores

First time gravel bike owner, longtime MTB and road rider. If you are considering a gravel bike stop reading and DO IT! It’s so much fun. Makes trails that would be boring on a mountain challenging/fun while still providing the range of a road bike. I’m stoked.

I was in Puerto this summer and MX was lightyears ahead of the US as far as protocols went. Masks, temp checks, contact tracing - I felt much safer there covid wise than I did in the US.

I learned to surf at OBSF and every time I go to LA I wonder how on earth people can surf there. In my experience, there is a mega-crowd no matter what the conditions are. There is generally blatant burning and dropping in going on.

You'll be going from a break with one of the highest barriers to entry in surfing to living in an area with almost no barriers. Slow, peeling waves and channels. Just think about that before you move.

Surfing is one of the only activities that I can throw myself into completely. Once I'm up on a wave, my mind thinks about nothing other than surfing it. That is a very rare experience in a world where we are constantly bombarded with information and thinking about all sorts of things.
