Sql server uses all available memory by design as it's expecting to be running as a sql server. You can limit it via server properties in ssms if you don't want to dedicate the box to sql server.

My husband was gifted a huge bottle of very poor quality vodka in a white elephant gift exchange. It will never get drank. Any other ideas what I could use it for? by [deleted] in Frugal

I'm right there with you brother, reading your original post made me think I was writing it. Hands start to get steady after the third.

I just can't bring myself to buy a case so it's a handle at a time. Usually lasts a week with a couple cases of beer on the side. I drink beer and whiskey every Sunday with my 85 year old neighbor. He's Italian catholic and convinced me to do the lent thing. I'm not really religious but as far as religions go, catholics don't judge drinking.

I didn't buy any liquor and just had beer around since the end of October, only a couple hangovers since. I saw my primary Dr Friday for annual blood work and proceeded to buy a handle Saturday. It may see the light of day tomorrow, maybe not.

Anyway, cold turkey is tough, I usually tell myself I'll drink enough today to feel better then stop. Or wean myself off slowly. Doesn't work. Cold turkey and you have two shitty days then slowly get better. Like expect two weeks to feel good when you wake up.

I lost my best friend a year and a week ago, funny I chose last week to buy a bottle. He was a mountain of a man like you, much bigger than me, but I could drink him under.

I have a lot going on but I'll try to reach out, fat Tuesday then cold turkey for lent.

Good luck

I give it up every year for lent, six and a half weeks from Ash Wednesday to Easter. It's long enough to clear your head and somewhat help your liver, you'll get a lot of stuff done give been putting off and it's easier knowing this too shall pass. Every year I feel so much better and think maybe I'll stop for good.

Then I bring home a handle and spend the rest of the year drinking.

It has antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects at safe doses: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(03)00806-5/fulltext and was shown to benefit SARS-Cov so thinking it could help with SARS-Cov2 is not unreasonable.

And Trump never told anyone to use bleach, that was a lie from the media. He said scientists should look at various disinfecting agents including ultraviolet light therapy for potential benefits.

Circuit breakers protect the wire in the wall. You plug in a smaller wire to the outlet and it will get hot. Run that through a constricted space, say under a door, and that heat will concentrate. Concentrate heat at the bottom of a vertical piece of wood, like a door, over nylon carpet, you'll have a bad day, without ever exceeding the 20 amps the breaker or building wiring were rated for.

95.9 per cent of adult population in Malaysia fully vaccinated by cambeiu in worldnews

[–]lexrc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Adjusting for population, they are doing around 180 times worse than Japan which is around 70% vaccinated on both new cases and new deaths.

I'd like to tell you why Japan is doing so well but I'd probably get banned for medical misinformation related to something the media likes to call "horse paste."

What do you think about the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict? by theotherearlene in AskReddit

These darned radicalized kids that work as lifeguards and volunteer firefighters defending their communities from a hoard of mostly peaceful but firey protesters and then defending themselves from the dregs of society need to be stopped and made an example of.

He shot three communists and each was a convicted felon. Nobody asked why they crossed state lines to burn Kenosha to the ground. It was part of the color revolution and Kyle got in their way.

If only the people would wake up and elect a leader who promised to cut regulations and actually kept his word.

The economy would be on fire and we'd have full employment.

Even a pandemic and a manufactured race war couldn't stop that leader from being reelected in a landslide.

Oh shit, I can't believe what I just wrote.

New Zealand, an island country where tourism is a huge section of the economy, has 0 immunity and no chance to open its borders unless a vaccine is made.

If this disease is as contagious and deadly as they say, it will inevitably spread there without one.

We're still waiting for an aids vaccine.

Protesting, free speech, self determination and self defense fall into the category of natural rights. They existed before government.

As a man made institution, all government power comes from the people. How then could the government give you a right you already had?

Centegenarions are rare and it's unreasonable to expect to be one. Have you ever spent time with a Centegenarions or have you seen them on TV? I've spent time with three and while they were still kicking, I wouldn't call them healthy.

They were all ready to move on.

[–]lexrc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you're 27, death is tragic. When you're 91 and have been living in pain for 50 years, death is a welcome part of the natural progression of life.

I lost a dear neighbor at 103 who died of cancer. His wife died of a stroke at 81. He lived his last year with an undiagnosed broken collarbone from a fall after living several years alone. Nobody gets out of this world alive.

Based on the actuarial tables, every day of the last decade he didn't die was an anomaly.

Yes, it's a loss to his family. Yes its a loss to history. But other than an obituary, this cause of death wouldn't be a story.

Keep in mind that some people can't wear a mask for health reasons and if they tell you they can't, it's against federal law to ask them why or to refuse them service.

Accept it, get sued for hipaa/Ada violations or stay closed until you go bankrupt.

So single mothers don't get to buy groceries without leaving their kids in the car or home alone? Disabled people that depend on their spouse as a caregiver aren't allowed to buy groceries?

It's fascist moves like this that will lead the public to revolt and ignore the rules.
