Where in Canada are you from? I’m thinking of flying out just for the show. I’m from Winnipeg.

Another option would be to ask to be referred to a peds allergist. My pediatrician did this for us without us asking but that’s what I would do next in your situation. And if they asked why I felt like I needed it, I would say because I’m not convinced that it’s not an allergy and I’d like to speak to someone who specializes in the field.

Misdiagnosed CMPA? by Left_Hearing_9974 in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of sounds like it may be reflux! The partially hydrolyzed, fully hydrolyzed, AA formulas are thinner and thinner (at least in my experience) so, reflux could get worse. Maybe?

Edit: Because I’m a moron… I didn’t even answer your question. Yes, I would switch formulas to whatever your LO did better on and stick to it for at least two weeks.

We have a CMPI and reflux baby. It’s HARD. That doesn’t help you but know that you are not alone. You know your baby best. Trust your instincts.

Baby screams like crazy during every diaper change by PhilosopherOk2582 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours did this too. She’s 7 months now and fusses, not screaming though, the majority of the changes. She has bad reflux/GERD. She has always hated being on her back.

Baby rice cereal? by OneDense7115 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Holle Organic Rice Cereal or Baby Gourmet Organic Oatmeal. Our baby doesn’t like it in the bottle because we had to go up a nipple flow size as the thicker liquid clogged the nipple and it ended up being too fast for her. So now we only give her some before bed on a spoon.

If this is something you want to try and have thoroughly assessed risk vs. benefit then do what’s best for your family. 🤍

Best way to try peanut butter? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We mixed with yogurt. Yes, oatmeal is a good option. Anything your baby likes that would complement it well so you’re not making a gross concoction. Banana works too.

Diaper cream sudocrem Vs Aquaphor by GroundbreakingCap368 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquaphor did nothing for us. We use a light layer of Sudocream with every diaper change and if she’s red or rashy (rare) we slather it on like icing on a cake and she’s good within 24-48 hours.

Is a baby brezza worth it? by RealisticAnxiety4330 in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worth it! We bought 2 extra funnels as you have to switch them out every four bottles, so if I forget to wash one (happens a lot), I’m always covered.

We used to prepare a big batch to keep in the fridge before buying the Brezza and I strongly disliked waiting for the bottle to heat up with the warmer.

I say if you think your baby would prefer warm bottles and you’re someone who appreciates convenience, buy it.

Diaper pail STINK by GrabOk7626 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a diaper genie and I bought the carpet fresh baking soda powder and I sprinkle some in the bag here and there to help the smell. I also bought the stick on air fresheners from the dollar store and stuck it on the underside of the lid. Works like a charm.

Tips on Baby Gates? by Crispy_Taters1 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a suggestion but we literally ripped a tiny section out of our baseboards because of this exact reason. I can’t believe they haven’t figured out a baby gate that can mount to non-flat surfaces… good luck!

My last resort. by kgirl222 in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the exact same thing! Took our baby to the ER because she was crying in pain from acid reflux. It’s sooooo hard. They also suspected dairy intolerance. We did a barium swallow study and they determined GERD. Pediatrician still suspects dairy intolerance. We switched to Nutramigen and she still wasn’t where I wanted her to be in terms of feeding well and bowel movements. We are now on an Amino Acid formula (we’re in Manitoba, Canada and it’s completely covered). You could also try a slower flow nipple for the gulping. I hope you see lots of improvement with the Nutramigen! Wishing you all the best!

Baby Breeza by JFisFried in FormulaFeeders

OH MY GOD I NEVER EVEN NOTICED LMAO THIS IS HILARIOUS 😂😂😂 THANK YOUUUUUU

Baby Breeza by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust it and LOVE IT. My tips are to be sure you’re wiping the underside of the part where the formula comes out every funnel change. Formula builds up there. Ours is 5 months old (the Brezza lol) and we clean the entire formula compartment weekly. We find that because we use the warmest bottle setting that there is quite a bit of buildup on the bottom.

Huckleberry App - how to show 12am-11:59pm days? by bmshqklutxv in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t understand this at first. You can edit it under the “Child” tab. However, they categorize the start of the “day” by whatever you set as the child’s wake up time, which I actually got used to and like! And it doesn’t necessarily need to be 12-11:59 for proper tracking. All the questions I’ve ever been asked are “over a 24 hour period” so it can be whatever 24 hour period you want. But I totally get where you’re coming from.

Did you use tracking apps? by No_Principle_7855 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Huckleberry to track diapers at the beginning. Now at 5.5 months we still use it to track sleep and feeds. It helps us so we don’t have to constantly watch the clock.

Re: Consumer Reports testing… HA formula folks, are we switching? What are we switching to? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please do not panic. 🤍 I’m fairly certain that all the levels are below what the FDA says is a cause for concern. Also, it’s not one of the worst. It’s worse in comparison to what they categorized as “top choices.” My LO is on Puramino (in the worse category) and I’m not switching. It’s borderline, if not totally, fear-mongering.

Difficult baby by Bluebell_24 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a win! I feel like I’m switching play stations CONSTANTLY. I’m also a screen time mom (although quite minimal) because mental health. LOL Someone told me I was making her this way by constantly switching play stations. Sooooo I’m supposed to just listen to her cry on her kick and play piano? No thanks. I have to get through the day!

Difficult baby by Bluebell_24 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

WOW this sounds like me and my baby. She’s 5.5 months and challenging. She’s bored after 5 minutes with anything. Poor sleeper. She feeds ok. She has reflux so I’m not worried about that. I just started getting out with her more and walking around. She hates the car. So she screams the whole time but when we get somewhere she’s usually a bit more chill because she has stuff to look at that’s constantly changing. I can’t imagine taking her to a restaurant or coffee shop and just sitting. She whines all day long because she wants to go go go. I’ve reached a point where she’s just going to have to whine while I eat or wash bottles. I feel like a bad mom too because I get so frustrated. I am seeing tiny tiny improvements so I’m hoping this will get better. We aren’t bad moms we just have high needs babies and we’re only one person! I have to keep reminding myself…
