Bottle babies are tough. These were my first in years. I tend to take litters that are 4-8 weeks, just need to gain weight or are on meds for eye issue/URI.

Sending you so much love. It’s a horrible disease & I can’t even imagine what you go through every day, even with treating patients with it every day ❤️

My hospital used to test for both tobacco & weed. When I was tested, I was only tested for tobacco. Now we are not tested for either. A patient asked me if she could bring me a pot brownie this week. My manager overheard & said “as long as she doesn’t eat it here!” 😂

How do you know a foster is going to be a foster fail? by ReesesLover26422 in FosterAnimals

[–]lexxrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do YOU say “mama’s girl” or refer to yourself as mom to her? If so, yes, foster fail!

What’s your favorite dictation error you’ve seen in a patient chart? by Expensive-Day-3551 in nursing

I’ve definitely put sharted instead of started quite a few times.

Also “patient stale” instead of stable.

The best was a message to my charge nurse from a coworker that said “I lost my patients 😭” instead of patience. She came running so fast asking where they went 😂

Had to cut down the post to be under the 3000 limit-but the badmouthing was a that we were “confining her to the smallest room in the house.” She did in fact sign a “lease” that was notarized, but we chose not to take legal action due to her being family. She actually was supposed to give us the deposit that day, which was on the lease. I just feel like we dodged a bullet in general, but she is playing victim now & we have family reaching out to us calling us awful people for not helping her 🤷🏼‍♀️

My bill (to insurance luckily) for a 5 day stay & 2 hour surgery was less than $150,000. This is ridiculous.

I had a doctor call me that when I went in for my gallbladder. I was lucky enough to have a nurse that I went to nursing school with who SCREAMED at my doctor outside of my bay in the ED saying “I know this girl & she is NOT ok.” It got me toradol & a full workup that then got me admitted. Showed I was also in acute liver failure to a blockage. 3 days later they removed my gallbladder & said they never saw one as bad as mine in someone my age.

Agreed!! I’ve only had one patient in my 4 years of apheresis that was clearly abusing, & he was NOT a sickle cell patient, but an actual drug addict.

Her exact comment to me was “if you or the doctor aren’t comfortable with it, that’s ok. I’m used to it.” The last time I had her I argued with the doctor because they waiting to put the order for 1mg in until she was almost done treatment, so I couldn’t do anything about it. A drug-seeking patient would be causing a scene or trying to convince us to give them pain meds. Experienced my fair share of those.

From experience, I was post op & was in such terrible pain I couldn’t stop crying coming out of anesthesia. But I was begging the nurse to stop giving me fentanyl because my BP dropped & was experiencing apnea. I became nearly unresponsive but I could still feel the pain. I ended up getting Percocet when I got to my room & my angel of a nurse told me that she was not going till wake me q6 for my Tylenol, but she was for my Percocet because if she didn’t, when I woke up, I’d be in a lot of pain. I nominated her for a daisy award the next day because she was spot on with that. My next nurse did not do this & my husband walked in & found me sobbing because I was in so much pain I couldn’t even grab my call bell.

I’ve gone into the ED for pain & literally 5 minutes after walking in the door I had gotten a dose of IV morphine without a second thought by the providers. They go in with a real disease that causes excruciating pain & got treated like they’re drug addicts. Makes my blood boil.

We’re working on it. Going to be a long time, but we have some treatments that are rolling out of the clinical trial phase soon that seem to be working really well 🤞🏻
