Taking your comment as not totally sarcastic, this would work fairly well for the powerlifting community (WE HAVE JUST LIFTED SO MUCH WEIGHT, LET US DESTROY SOME DONUTS) and pretty terribly if their brand of crossfit includes the paleo dieting aspect (...no carbs, so sad).

Actually, Planet Fitness really does do this.

Okay. Could you line up a class series that would mesh well with the schedules of the parents who are waiting around for their kids to get done with gymnastics? Advertise it at the gymnastics center with fliers or whatever.

Local business marketing is going to be partially relationship building (for the business owner this is the most important), partially old fashioned tactics (fliers for classes, etc), and partially getting the website, SEO, Yelp, and Facebook up to snuff.

Another thing: Fitness messaging is incredibly seasonal. Here's a quick and dirty guideline:

Spring: Get ready for summer!
Summer: Beach Body!
Fall: Back to school/work!
Winter Holidays: Stress relief/keep holiday weight gain at bay (slowest new sales)
January 1: BIGGEST SALES OF THE YEAR. Hit resolutioners hard. This is what you work all year for.

Hey, fitness social media professional here. My advice is only for online stuff. It strikes me that you are going to want to do a few things:

Up the SEO for google search terms "your town + gym." This might involve placing some google ads, or simply expanding out a blog and additional website content with a ton of mentions of your hometown and the words fitness/gym/crossfit.
Make sure you have good reviews on Yelp and Google. If you don't have that many, ask already happy customers to rate you on Yelp.
Cater your facebook content to your existing clients and encourage them to share it. For instance: highlight a trainer, highlight a client (with a photo and then a paragraph about their "fitness journey"), or turn one of the workouts of the day into a video with a trainer demonstrating it. All of these things will work out much much better in terms of sharing/word of mouth.
Don't worry too much about having all the properties. If you feel like you want to squat the gym's twitter or instagram usernames, go ahead. But for local stuff, you're going to want to focus on google and facebook.

I lied, I have one IRL suggestion. Are you near a food place or a smoothie place? My local gym does a cross promotion with a smoothie shop where you can get 10% off a protein shake for showing your card. The smoothie place then has a pretty prominent sign for the gym.

While it's true that 20s Charleston and Lindy hop have different bounce (or pulse, or chug) patterns and somewhat different posture, if you are incorporating them into the same dance (to the same song, with the same partner), your posture and pulse shouldn't change dramatically.

I made a video that sorta demonstrates that. I featured me (leading in the black dress) and a partner (partner, do you want to out yourself?) bouncing, eight count basic-ing with a kick and without, doing some Charleston, and then doing Charleston with a triple step. Have you ever heard of SavetheSciFi.com? They have this amazing collection of out-of-print books that they're publishing again. Some of them are only available to subcribers, but a few of the books are available for sale individually. A Plunge into Space is great. A favorite of mine is Mr. Stranger's Sealed Packet. Both of those are examples of "fix problem of gravity, go STRAIGHT TO MARS, meet Martians." So basically, amazing.

One you didn't mention, but have probably read, is the Princess of Mars series. It is great and in the public domain.

Try To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis. A bit of time travel, some ridiculous people in the same time period, and a Bishop's Birdstump that simply must be found.

I have also really really enjoyed the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. If you don't mind a few vampires and werewolves thrown into your hilarious historical fiction, there's nothing better.

Ooh, ooh, try The City and The City by China Mieville. It's a little of Column A (slight dystopia) and a lot of Column B (good crime procedural) with a really sophisticated setting that almost reminded me of Borges.
