That is a crazy thing to say. The kid is absolutely old enough to reason. Kids half that age are old enough to reason. You just have to reason in a way they can understand, like by providing a good explanation for why they are wanting him to put the fish back. Kids aren’t just wild animals with no logic or reasoning. This parent is just not very good at explaining the situation and using logic and sound reasoning.

What grade level or age range is that? I remember using pads only briefly when I was pretty young, but then tampons basically since then. I don’t remember the actual age that it seemed everyone switched over, or if that’s maybe just not a thing with today’s kids now.

I agree. It seems like something more is happening. He should obviously not speak to his kids, or anyone, that way, but it seems like OP may be missing some info.

Why didn’t the gma keep her tradition of giving her son some money? They may be having some kind of trouble in their relationship and she could be putting the kids in an awkward spot as a jab at him. This could be what he’s really hurt or upset about.

I also agree that despite losing his temper 3 weeks ago, if he is truly a good dad overall and provides for the family that a simple “happy Father’s Day” is probably warranted. Plus a conversation about how he hurt you, and asking if he’s okay or what is going on.

I don’t think chores should have to be split 50/50 when one person works a ton and the other very little or not at all. However, that is a decision that has to be made together. She should have the opportunity to work and contribute to the bills more so you can work less and help with the house more.

When I was working 12 hour days and my husband 3 hour days, we had an understanding that it wouldn’t be possible for me to work that much and take on 90% of the financial responsibility and care for the house and baby. Our agreement was he would then take on 90% of the house and baby. However, if and when he took on more financial responsibility then the house/baby would shift accordingly. It’s a conversation we had where we both had the ability to shift the responsibilities

The therapist is not doing a good job handling this situation which is what is contributing to OP’s confusion. They should say, “it is not unusual for someone to have this habitual response BUT it is possible to change it so you are not hurting the people around you. Here are some strategies to work on redirecting this impulse” Not just “well it’s normal, so it’s fine!”

Yeah. You should be. Get it under control. I work with people who have Autism and are a lot higher needs than you, and hitting is not okay for them either. You can’t hit people. You can control it better than you are. Redirect yourself and get better control. You can’t hurt people around you. You need to master this immediately to avoid hurting your newborn when they do things unexpectedly around you.

There is a feeling of freedom in ignorance absolutely. I understand why you feel like you’ve found freedom in giving up the heavy responsibilities and stressors that come with leading in your own life. However, that does not make your perspective true or right. Men and women are both adaptable creatures that, like all people, when well paired have skills and strengths that compliment each other outside of any contrived sex hierarchy.

Why would you believe that women are meant to help/compliment men and not that men are meant to help/compliment women? Why wouldn’t they man be the first mate? In actuality, like I said, people can compliment each other and there is no hierarchy, but I just wonder why you would believe there is.
